Mat 24:4-6 Jesus answered them, Be careful that no one misleads you [deceiving you and leading you into error]. (5) For many will come in (on the strength of) My name [appropriating the name which belongs to Me], saying, I am the Christ (the Messiah), and they will lead many astray. (6) And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

These verses are misleading!
The truth is that a deceiver is not misleading as one is when merely mistaken but, rather a deceiver is intentionally deceptive.
The deceivers shall come in the name of Jesus and claim they are Christ. Christ means "anointed one". Which is very popular today. That is that many are right now going around to churches claiming to be anointed ones who have come in Jesus name when they aren't. There are no anointings of anyone apart from the anointing of Jesus. The whole new age deception is founded upon claiming the things of Jesus belong to them that are outside of his body, which is a lie.
The word "this" is misleading because the true Bible says "all these things".
The idea that this verse should be thought to mean that the end is not near at this time in history is false.
This verse simply is stating that the specific things noted in the dialogue of Jesus at this point are not to be thought of as indications of prophetic timing.
That point has no bearing on the verses that declare truths that specifically require us to know at what time in history we are living with respect to the end of this age.

Joman.

So... it is your assertion that the bible is misleading?

Is it that you somehow have special revelation of that which Jesus Himself stated that no one knows and thus supersede scripture in your deistic knowledge?

Rev,
I think joman is getting at what he was going on about in the "THE GREAT TRIBULATION" thread.

I had to read it a couple of times myself. Then I noticed the quote above. He refers to "the true Bible".

I think his allegation of misleading is at least partly because you quoted from the wrong version of the Bible. Laughing

Oh. I still have a problem with his 'right' and 'wrong' version of the bible philosophy since I find NOTHING in scripture that supports his assertions.

What needs to be clarified is:

The time of the end....or, the end of time.
There is a difference between the two.
