Hello, everyone!
My name is David, and I am interested in the Bible and religion; I have been a Bible student for about 15 years. Since the name David was taken here I had to pick a nickname, which was Daystar. That comes from some translations of 2 Peter 1:19. Other translations may differ and use another term for daystar, but the original language uses the term daystar like the planet Venus, which always heralds a new day by being the brightest star before the dawn. Of course, in this sense I am not actually the daystar, but rather my attention is focused on the daystar - Jesus Christ, the word of Jehovah God.
Although I have never been one of Jehovah’s Witnesses or a member of any organized religion, my understanding of scripture can most accurately be compared to the teachings of the JWs. The reason for this is that I studied with them and found most, but not all of their teachings to be in agreement with the Bible.
This means that I also see most of the teachings of modern day Christianity as being more inspired by pagan teachings - Greek philosophy for example. Teachings such as the immortal soul, hell, the rapture, the trinity, the cross, Christmas, Easter etc.
This looks like an active and excellent forum for the discussion which I enjoy so much, and I hope we can all have a good time in doing this; I have read the rules and would have no trouble following them respectfully. I am used to being the odd man out when it comes to my beliefs and can take a great deal from skeptics and believers alike, and although I am able to do this peacefully I can also stand my own ground in a debate. So feel free to speak your mind.
Let’s have fun! |

Welcome, David
I just recently came back to the site after some personal hardships.
I really missed some of the discussions while I was unable to get to a computer. You will meet some great people. _________________ Bless you,

Thank you lone-traveler, Nobby, Holly - for the warm welcome.
I, like lone-traveler, am sorry to hear of your hardships, Holly; I hope that they are behind you and I am glad of the opportunity to have discussion with you.
Nobby, I do know my way around, in fact, not too long ago I had my own PHP forum. I took my website down, though. After years of discussion I had to take a break and created a massive website for my own enjoyment.
I prefer feedback though, and after a few years of HTML, editing, formating and designing my own website, I find that I would much rather discuss things with the people in a place like this, without the hassle of a website and forum of my own. |

Hi Daystar. Great name. BTW, I agree with your comment about Greek philosophy. But I am a great fan of Greek philosophy -- hence my name. So I'll look forward to enjoyable discussions with you. PS, I am not a Jehovah's Witness. I differ on some points of belief. However, there is much that I admire about them. _________________ One would never discover the limits of soul, should one traverse every road -- so deep a measure does it possess.

It's good to have you here, Daystar. Welcome! My father's name was David. So I feel connected to you already! Have fun. _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. Remember, God is STILL speaking.
