Jn 7:

38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Those of the election of grace, because of the completed work of Jesus christ on our behalf, and He now being Glorifed, He now sends the Holy Ghost to His chosen remant to give them belief in Him, unto His Glory..The Lord Jesus christ, on His throne of Glory, brings the church, even when rebellious by nature as in ps 68:

18Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

These chosen rebels are subdued by Gods spirit and grace and converted into believers..

This is what it means in heb 10:

12But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; [The Glorified christ]

13From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

14For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified

saul who became paul, was one of these chosen enemies, and we see his subduing on the damascus road, were he was made by power divine a slave, for christ..

Though this is not a exact duplicate experience for all the children of election, yet is served as an example of the power and grace of God unto all that should believe thereafter..note pauls words in 1 tim 1:

16Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

also notice the comment longsuffering, Jesus christ showed longsuffering unto saul, because he was an elect chosen vessel..see acts 9:

15But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

This is important to understand in light of the much abused text in 2 pet 3:

9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

amen, this usward to whom peter refers to are those of the same chosen status and elect as he and paul was of..1 pet 1:

2Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

So this is those God is Longsuffering towards, the elect, the chosen vessels of grace..He is Longsuffering towards them, because in His plan and purpose the will be brought to repentance and belief in The Lord Jesus christ their saviour just as paul was..

The Holy Ghost accomplishes this Sovereign work, on behalf of christ, to those he died and rose for.

Notice this prophecy in zech 12:

9And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn[godly sorrow] for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

This tells us of the house of david [ the elect] being able to look upon me [the Lord Jesus christ] why, after having had the spirit of grace poured upon them, in other words, a sovereign work of the Holy Ghost causes them to look unto or call upon or believe in the Lord Jesus christ..

Now, is the house of david limited to jewish descendants ? No, look at acts 15:

13And after they had held their peace, James answered[who wrote the book of james], saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

14Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

15And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

16After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

17That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

18Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

So, we see here that God in His foreordained plan from the beginning of the world declared chosen gentiles as part of the tabernacle of david..or the house of david..

James says, this agrees the words of the prophets, which means, the scriptures..

lk 24:

27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself..

so, it is by a sovereign work of the Holy Ghost, that the glorifed christ, sends him to his unconverted, rebellious..church, and He by giving them new life, causes them to believe in Jesus christ, the one who they caused to be pierced and smitten of God, because of their Iniquites as in isa 53:

4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

8He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

False religon today teaches a unlimited atonement for all men everywhere, and that its up to the freewill of man to accept and believe in christ for it to benefit them, this is not according to scripture, the sacrifice was for a chosen people, the house of David, or the house of Israel, and God, according to promise, will pour out on them His spirit of grace and supplication, and they will or shall, not might, look unto him that died for them..Praise God for the work of God the Holy Ghost..
