Some things I'm reading say we're not under Old Testament Law (Which I did not know). For some reason I don't think this applies to the 10 commandments (duh )
Reading some of the scripture that backs up their argument, makes me feel less bad by being more interested in The New Testament than The Old Testament.
This new knowledge is nice but won't change anything
Can anyone list some of of the Old Testament Laws? |

| On a related note, the Catholic church recently released a new list of sins. We've got to keep up on the reading so we don't miss any. |

All the OT laws are based on Unconditional Love: Levit 19:17-18.
Therefore, in the ever-validity of everalsting Love,
all OT laws are all still both valid today and invalid today!
That is, they wd work just as well today if applied in Love unconditional.
Present days laws still do NOT work without the spirit of unconditional Love!
sigh
"Yet the ancients knew something- which we seem to have forgotten. All means prove but a blunt instrument, if they have not behind them a living spirit [the living spirit of everlasting Love]. But if the longing for the achievement of the goal is powerfully alive within us, then shall we not lack the strength to find the means for reaching the goal and for translating it into deeds."
Albert Einstein.
This article appears in Einstein's Ideas and Opinions, pp.41 - 49. The first section is taken from an address at Princeton Theological Seminary, May 19, 1939. It was published in Out of My Later Years, New York: Philosophical Library, 1950. The second section is from Science, Philosophy and Religion, A Symposium, published by the Conference on Science, Philosophy and Religion in Their Relation to the Democratic Way of Life, Inc., New York, 1941.
1 Corinthians 6:
12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any[: neither this side of the law nor that opposite side of the law: I am brought only under the Law of Power of Love at all times].
The new sins listed by the rcc are just their way of avoiding saying what they won't say: 'Stop hating in spirit.'
RCC MODERN EVILS
Environmental pollution: Hatred of self as dirty.
Genetic manipulation: Hatred of self as sick.
Accumulating excessive wealth: Hatred of self as poor.
Inflicting poverty: Hatred of self as poor.
Drug trafficking and consumption: Hate of self as bored.
Morally debatable experiments: Hate of self as immoral.
Violation of fundamental rights of human nature: Hate of self as wrong.
ORIGINAL DEADLY SINS
Pride = Hate of self as humble and as weak.
Envy = Hate of self as a have-not.
Gluttony = Hate of self as hungry.
Lust = Hate of self as deprived.
Anger = Hate of self as angry.
Greed = Hate of selfas poor.
Sloth = Hate of self as fast or for work one has to do.
with the everlasting Law of Love that covers all opposites in all laws at all times,

On another note about RCC's new list of sins.. Its like trying to trademark the circle. I'm sure theres things in the Bible way before they thought of them. |

You folks never quit.
May I have a link for this because in all my Catholic reading, I missed it. Furthermore, I believe it to be either a misunderstanding or more anti-Catholic propaganda. |

Despite what you think, people around here aren't 'out to get you' and other Catholics. Why don't you see for yourself if what is being said has any basis in reality?
From a quick google search:
| This article wrote: | A Vatican official, who heads the office that issues decisions on matters of conscience, was asked by the Vatican newspaper what are the new sins.
He cited creating poverty, excessive wealth, abusing drugs, polluting the environment and other social concerns. |

Ana, that's what I asked for. And you came up with this.
| Quote: | This article wrote:

These aren't "new sins". They are the old ones of greed and gultony, and not loving others. I guess the question seemed to imply differently and the official responded to show ways these sins can manifest themselves in today's world.

| Look, it sounds like your beef is with the Vatican, because this is what they are calling 'the new sins'. This list thing is what admin was talking about. It's real and it did happen - he wasn't just making it up to poke fun at the Catholics. |
