Hi everyone!

My name is John (note the handle: it's what my friends call me, so feel free)

I'm 36, married, have two WONDERFUL kids.
I'm a correctional officer - working with Juvenile Offenders, a job I've done in one capacity or another for almost 14 years now.

I'm also a martial arts instructor.

I've got a passion for serving my Lord at Church and digging into God's word to discover all of the beautiful riches He's planted there for us!!!!!
So....I'm REALLY excited to be involved here on this forum!!

Your Brother
John

Prys die Heer!

I have a 2nd Degree Black Belt in a system called "Bushidokan" which is a blend of Karate & a very old, traditional style of Jujutsu. Though a hybrid system, it's about an even blend of striking & grappling.

I also have a Black Belt in another hybrid system that my instructor simply calls "American Karate".

I have a Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate, which is my FAVORITE! It's exceedingly practical, efficient and VERY effective. The logical framework it's founded upon is a big part of it's draw for me as I can place most any other "logical" body of martial arts knowledge w/in it's curriculum-framework.

I also hold a red belt in Tae Kwan Do Moo Duk Kwan, a Brown Belt in GoJu Ryu Karate-Do and have been studying Kyushojitsu (the study of pressure points & critical targets for martial arts application) for a little over two years now.

I teach at our church and I also assist at one of my students schools in town. WHAT I teach is pretty much American Kenpo Karate with a GOOD dose of the other arts I've picked up over the last 30 years of my studies. At my students school he charges, but at church though, it's FREE. I do the classes, followed by a short(ish) mat-chat in which we study scripture and talk about our walk with the Lord.

I'm TOTALLY open to any and all questions about the martial arts or the "Christian Philosophy" through which I approach and teach it!

Thanks for asking

Your Brother
John

Thank you ALL for the warm welcome!!

Like I said before, I'm very excited to participate on this forum! I think there's great potential on open forums like this one...
potential for, well......
anything! Good or bad.
What comes of it, is up to us though.

It's good to see you John. Welcome to the forum. My husband is also a correctional officer, but he deals w/the adult population in a county prison. He also loves the martial arts but hasn't practiced in a very long time. He studied Moo Duk Kwan but he's always wanted to learn Jeet Kune Do as he admires Bruce Lee so much!

I hope you enjoy your stay here. It's a quaint place we all call home! Smile
