"Love is life.
All,
everything that I understand,
I understand only because I love.

Everything is,
everything exists,
only because I love.
Everything is united by it alone.
Love is God,
and to die means that I, a particle of Love,
shall return to the general and eternal source."
Leo Tolstoy

with Love and Respect,

One of my favourite books on my shelves is Tolstoy's "Wise Thoughts" which you can find at Amazon. Here is the link:

Wise Thoughts For Every Day.

Note that the customer reviews are all 5 star, and there are 9 reviews. Tolstoy's faith is beautifully captured by atoz's quote above. There are quotes with titles about love, peace, one soul in all, death, true and false science, and many more. I am not a rigid follower of Tolstoy myself, but much that he believed I also believe. However, his spirituality was more puritanical than mine. Nevertheless, a great man and a great book. Excellent for those who haven't the time to read Anna Karenina, much less War and Peace.

Ta, PLO!

LS also has THE philosophy called The Perennial Philosophy!

The Wisdom of Human Kind
Publisher's Note
Leo Tolstoy's brilliant summation of wisdom, published in 1911 as The Way of Life, serves as the ultimate expression of his encounters with Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, and other spiritual and philosophical texts.
This new edition further distills Tolstoy's thinking into a compact and accessible volume for today's reader who is interested in achieving a spiritually arid ethically meaningful life and world.

The Wisdom of Humankind is written to inspire readers to learn from the accumulated wisdom -- the perennial philosophy -- of humankind.
Stressing the renunciation of violence and wealth, self-improvement,

and love and respect for all human beings,

Tolstoy's philosophies are as relevant today as they were nearly a century ago.

In addition to translating and condensing Tolstoy's writings, Guy de Mallac has provided essays which illuminate the original work, and contains key terms, suggested readings, and an annotated list of sources from which Tolstoy worked.

with the Perennial Philosophy of Love and R,

Thanks for the reference atoz. It looks as if the two books might have been drawn from the same core body of writings. I don't have a copy of the book you mention, but I'll have to get it. The Wise Thoughts book is substantially edited from the original planned work of Tolstoy.

Wonderful!

I'm not very good at reading ( I know 'cos my teachers told me) but I bought the book "Walk in the Light and 23 tales" by Leo Tolstoy.
It was a delight. A treasure even for the likes of me.

Love the quote atoz. Thank you.
