This may sound like an odd question since the thing is covered in the 3rd chapter of John.

But I am kind of new at this so I was quite surprised when people started telling me that Jesus did not baptize anyone! So I am a bit confused on the matter. Can anyone explain this to me?

Why are people saying that Jesus didn't baptize when John's gospel says that He spent time with His disciples and baptized... and goes on to say that John the Baptist says that "He is baptizing, and everyone is going to Him." So, why are people telling me that He did not baptize anyone?

johnn,

For your last paragraph above, could you provide some specific verses?

Phin, I think the verse Johnn is refering to is, John 3:22 NKJV
Quote:
22 ¶ After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea. And He stayed there with them and baptized.

Quote:
But John 3:32-34 NKJV says that Jesus baptized!
32 And John bore record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from Heaven like a dove, and He abode on Him.
33 And I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water, that One said to me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining upon Him, He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.
34 And I saw and bore record that this is the Son of God.

Now John 4:1-2 NKJV seems like maybe Jesus didn't baptize in water?

Quote:
1 ¶ Therefore when the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John
2 (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples),

What do you guys think?

Nobby,

I found a cross reference to Jn. 4:1-2 in my NASB. It appears that it was Jesus' disciples who were doing the baptizing but they were being baptised into Jesus Christ.
