Whew what a concept, two black politicians going against each other in the presidential election.
How many of us even remember Alan Keyes? He is a hard core conservative with evangelical connections that are deeply rooted instead of surface stuff like W's. He has a great ability to reach people since his earlier career was in teaching. He has experience in statescraft since he was an ambassador and he is not from a career political family.
In fact he was "drafted" to face Barak Obama for his senatorial seat at the last minute because the primary winner couldn't go on and he still polled well (obviously he didn't win that seat) but still he knows enough about Barak to give him a real fight in 08.
Anyone out there willing to have such an election as this? _________________ My boss is a Jewish carpenter.

OK the Alan Keyes vs Hillary.
It seems none of the other Republican candidates are true conservatives, each has their issues in their background. I'm not even saying that Mr Keyes will run but just thinking about him against Obama seems interesting. _________________ My boss is a Jewish carpenter.

I'd vote for Satan before I'd vote for Hillary....at least with Satan, I have some inclination as to how far his evilness will go... _________________ Links of note:"Review for Doubting Christians"

McCain's big project is campaign finance reform. If all of his latest crazy talk and group hugs with the likes of Falwell and friends is just an act to help him get elected, then I still totally support him.
Campaign finance reform could actually save your country. If he is elected and does literally nothing else, he would probably be the greatest President in history. _________________ "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."

I certainly agree with your sentiment concerning Election reform, but remember the primaries as when the candidates run toward their bases and for McCain that means going against his liberal grain, too many compromises for the republican base. I do respect McCain for his standing on principles by the way, I just don't think he represents the republicans.
He and Giuliani are both too liberal to get the nomination, neither one has any connections to the evangelical crowd and they don't stand on the core republican "Values." Running his campaign reform from congress would be a better place to do it instead of as president
Keyes has the record of supporting all of those core values and has an international reputation to boot. Would, nay , Could the republicans (the party of Lincoln) actually nominate a black candidate, ever? _________________ My boss is a Jewish carpenter.

Nope! It'll be a long time before that happens. America is not ready for a black or female president... And the Republicans aren't going to be the party to give them one! _________________ "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."

This coming election cycle is filled with candidates who have problems, on both sides of the party divide. It appears no one is completely without some issue.
This may be the worst choice election ever. Voters choosing between least worst doesn't bode well for the country.
I understand why true statesmen nowadays just dont like to run for office, but where have they hidden themselves lately? We may go from a high voter turnout in 2006 to a very low turnout in 2008.
We'll see wont we? _________________ My boss is a Jewish carpenter.

How is it different than any other election? Just think of the last one: it was John Kerry (a loser) going up against George Bush (an incompetent scumbag).
And the one before: Al Gore (who was born without a personality) going up against George Bush (an incompetent scumbag).
The presidential election is ALWAYS (at least since WWII) about choosing someone for the job who won't be particularly good at it and who isn't very honest. That's the name of the game. _________________ "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."

I suggest that it hasn't always been that way, for sure recently though.
Up until the first Reagan term it wasn't. The hangers on during the Reagan era though turned out to be the scumbags of today. We can blame Reagan for it since he hired them, but we elected them so we get what we pay for.
If we remember Reagan's tendency to unilateral action disregarding others rights (Patco strike) and our military build up (starwars defense). Our sleeping president (Reagan) had some of the same attitude as Bush just earlier, and became the exemplar. _________________ My boss is a Jewish carpenter.

Yes, Reagan is when things started going REALLY down hill, and this was totally predictable given how he behaved as governor of California.
But it's not like Nixon or Johnson or any of those losers were *that* much better.
In my opinion, Eisenhower was the last good president. I give a nod to Kennedy as well, although he came really close to wiping out all life on Earth, and that's a BIG black mark against him. _________________ "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."
