| I love to sit down with my Bible and read. When I read, things seem to go right, but I can not seem to find time to read everyday. I know that I sould put time aside everyday. I have three kids 5,6,10. I go to school 4 days a week, and study everyday all day. I am taking a transcription course and it requires me to type reports, this in itself is very time consuming. I get up at 6:00am take my shower, get my school stuff ready to go and do any last minute reading, I get my kids up and of course the fight is on to get them to make beds, put on clothes, brush hair, and getting them to the kitchen for breakfast. dry my hair and brush my teeth, feed the dogs, start a load of laundry, start the dish washer, get everyone out the door. Drop two kids off at school at 8:30am one stays all of two hours. That leaves me and daughter to race across town 15 or so miles in the morning traffic to get to school by 9:00am. Sit in class till 10:45am to get back in the car race back across town to pick up son from school. Get home make lunch sit and relax for maybe 5 minutes. Get up start study and typing. between which I have to get up and get snacks and start more laundry. Back to computer stop to get other son from school at 3:30pm get home more laundry get son to kitchen to do his homework which take all night long, start dinner at 4:00pm. Kids read books so I can sign them. eat at 5:00pm. Oh now its time for Boy Scouts, Dance class. Get home kids to showers and dinner clean up. Now its 8:00pm And hopefully kids have not been fighting over every little thing. Husband home, and kids to bed all about 8:00pm. Talk with husband who does not like to read. It is hard for me to get him to talk about the Bible at all. Read more of my chapter and crash out on the couch by 9:00pm. So tired that there is no time in the day for just me. Oh yeah I forgot one thing, we are packing up the house so we can move in about 2 weeks. HELP ! I need a mothers day out. When can I study my Bible????? Maybe there is another way to study ??? anyone have any ideas? I love all the input to all the other questions thought there might be somemore ideas. |

| I've never done this, and it might not be the same as reading it yourself, but you might consider getting audio recordings of the Bible. Usually I read the Bible to myself, sometimes quietly and other times outloud. But I have had people read to me before and if you pay attention, I find it can be very enjoyable as well. I know that a rushed schedule is often very hectic and leaves you little time to relax. But do be glad that being busy doesn't stop you from praying. That's one thing that we can do wherever and whenever and helps us grow immensely. I pray that you find some extra time to take a break and things go well with your husband's spiritual walk. God is on your side. |

Hi Carly,
A few words from Proverbs:
Proverbs 3
1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
I've highlighted the bit I have because I think this is something other than "long life". When we do God's things and give time to His Word somehow the amount we get into a day increases. I sometimes have the bible playing on a tape in the car - memorise verses etc. As Dole said we can always pray
Keep on going on!

Carly,
I had the same problem you seem to be facing. To solve it, I had to give something up--something I really enjoyed doing. I bought the NIV on CD (because my car has a CD player but no tape player). Since my preference is to have the Word as pure as I can get it, I chose the non-dramatized one without the background music (both dramatization and music necessarily add a bit of someone's interpretation to it). Anyway, I committed myself to listening to it whenever I'm in the car. I listen to one CD over and over for a week and then move on to the next CD. What did I give up to do this? Listening to music while I drive.
I've read through the Bible four times so far, but I've discovered something interesting about my new way of getting in to the Word. I am actually noticing things that I had read right over several times before. New things are jumping out at me as I listen. I don't know if it would be the same for you or anyone else, but that's been my experience.
The only time I break this routine is on Saturdays when my daughter is in the car as we go to church. For her, I put in a CD of children's Bible songs.
Shalom,
