I didn't know where else to put this, but it is scientifically-related and also peripherally related to evolution, so it sort of fits in this forum.

I'd like to know how religious people feel about the prospect of there being other life somewhere in the universe. Are there other intelligent beings out there?

They're building some pretty impressive new radio telescope arrays, partly to help with the SETI project:

The ridiculous part is how hard it is to get funding for these cutting-edge scientific instruments. Compared with, say, the Iraq War, they cost nothing. They would also help to give us a fundamental insight into how the Universe works. So how come it's so hard to get funding for them?
