Wasn't sure where to but this topic, so into the lounge it goes.

Ana's post in "If you were a salesman..."

It does lots of things for us. It allows us to take steps in correcting behaviours which are unwanted in society. It allows us to help people learn. It allows us to diagnose when chemicals are out of balance, which allows us further advances into medicine. We may still be ultimately controlled by these chemicals, and every event may be a spectacularly large chain of falling dominos, but the domino representing this knowledge is the one that steers the tipping in a way that's good for us.

This got me thinking. The Bible states that ALL have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. It states we are born in sin because of Adam. It states that the human heart is exceedingly wicked.

It is true that human beings are capable of incredible cruelty, but as a whole are we exceedingly wicked?

I mean, does everybody on earth have a "dark side"?

I know I used to have one when my hormones were out of whack. I think I was certainly capable of doing some very horrendous deeds considering some of the things I used to imagine doing or becoming.

I do believe that any human being is also capable of very surprising amounts of evil.

I also believe that any human being is capable of doing great good.

I have known and heard of very good non-Christians.
I have known and heard of very bad Christians.
I have known and heard of very good Christians.
I have known and heard of very bad non-Christians.

So, is "sin" just a term for "normal" human behavior or is it actually real and we are just simply slaves to its biddings?

GG, great topic and set-up.

The answer to how we are all born in sin due to adam answers all the other questions.

We are all born with good and bad.
That's normal.
What modrates the bad and doubles up the good is the Goodness of Love for the good and bad wea re born with.

What exacerbates the bad we are born with and halves the good is the Evilness of Hate for the bad or evil we are born with.

It's a trick in words by God using one word, 'evil' for TWO totally different things: the evil we are born with and the Evil of hating evil that we have to be taught, or really mustaught!

GG, even God says he is evil: so how cd that evil be bad of itself? Deut 32:39. Isa 45:7-8.
It therefore has to be that other evil of Hate for evil that is the real evil.

Then in Love for both the good and the evil, and with the evil of hate of the evil, is HOW you see this:

1.
I have known and heard of very good non-Christians [that is, non-xtians who love the good and the bad].

2.
I have known and heard of very bad Christians, ie, xtians who love the good and have that evil Hate for the evil.]

3.
I have known and heard of very good Christians [ditto as #1].

4.
I have known and heard of very bad non-Christians [[ie ditto as #2].

what do you think?

with love an respect,
atoz
