An Inconvenient Truth is a movie made by and starring Al Gore about global warming. Has anybody here seen it? It's a little shocking, but this movie really gets the viewers thinking. I put this in the politics forum because there are political undertones in this movie as well.

Any thoughts or comments about this movie?

When it came out, the CNN article talked to many leading scientists and their general view was that Gore got most of the facts right. They were actually very surprised at the accuracy of his research.

But on another religion site I run, there is a lengthy thread claiming there is no global warming and it's all made up.

I tend to take CNN as a more valid source, but the source saying the movie was bull, was an independent major newspaper.

For me, I'm just a little confused - but would tend to trust Gore, who in fact DID help speed the process of getting the world wide web up and running. People made fun of him when he said he invented the internet, but he was the most powerful political force back then to get things rolling - when people had no idea what it was. His bullseye on that vision makes me more apt to trust him now. That's where I stand currently. Always open to new information.

You should not be confused. Gore is right, and in fact he probably isn't being alarmist enough.

Please, please, please watch this documentary. It is made by the BBC, so it is fact-checked. It is the most powerful evidence in favor of global warming that is out there:

It said at some point during the movie that when over 900 (they gave the number; I don't remember the exact figure) peer-reviewed articles were looked at, none disagreed with the consensus that humans are affecting climate change, causing global warming, whereas the media and policymakers continue to propagate the idea that global warming is a myth, and climate change is purely a natural (as in, non-human) occurrence.

Humans affect Climate Change

Policymakers Uphold Global Warming as Myth

This is another of those examples where the public is so inundated with contradictory "information" that nobody knows what to believe any more. That's why critical thinking is so important.

There is truth and there is truth.
The ability to run cars on water has been with us for fifty plus years.(Hydrogen fuel) Cars can run on old deep frying fat. The sun when it shines(like in california) will run a car, store up power and keep it going even at night. We,wah wah wah over the global warming debate as America wars over the main component of globel warming, OIL.
Today asia tested another nuke. Big business is pushing plastics down our throats, wrapping up our food and drink in it.(plastics a petro-chem by product folks.) They, the ones in power don't give a crap. They give us band aid solutions like recycling from home while industry creates more waste in an hour than all us "consumers" would ever use in a life time.
Don't fall for the bunk. Don't fall for the fear. We are blessed and eternal. We are here for a purpose greater than global warming. Anyway, its the way of the earth. its alive like us and like us, continualy changing. Its heated up and froze over more than my ex.
Lotsa love Siam. Wink

CNN???

I guess only leaking American classified information is important to this... 'valid source' rather than getting at the truth. Confused or disgusted
