I wanted to post this here, because it is to other Christians I am writing. I was on two other boards and both had posts about the Trinity and "trinitarians". I am one of those who believes Jesus is God. The way some of these people describe trinitarians as they are kids who were too old too believe in Santa Claus. In other words, they made people like me look stupid for believing what I have been taught since I was a Christian, something that most Christians have accepted for a very long time. I can accept that someone has a different belief than mine, but I don't think I should made to feel stupid for my beliefs.
Are there any others here who believe Jesus is God? Do you feel as I do or do you think I am just being hypersensitive? I stopped posting my belief in The Trinity because I just got tired of being ridiculed by fellow Christians for it. I expect atheists to ridicule my faith, as they always have since I became a Christian. It doens't really even bother me anymore, but this attack from other Christians is too much. _________________ Then everyone who shall confess Me before men, I will confess him before My Father who is in Heaven. Until not too many years ago I thought the Trinity was just the way it was, I didn't even know it was a question.
That being said. We are in a major evolution of theology change right now, at least that's what I see. I attribute a large part of that to the information available on the internet.
I have been confronted with many things the last couple years that make me uncomfortable, or more correctly to say I have learned the last couple years so many areas where I have been wrong for a very long time.
I just didn't have all the information.
So I guess my answer to you is more than just whether the Trinity is correct or not, it's more addressed at the amount of information we now have access to.
It's difficult sometimes to know what's correct.
My two cents on the Trinity. It's a theological creation.
More importantly, as I have learned from RevJP, is to ask how it helps or affects our faith and walk with Jesus Christ. _________________ Cybermonsters (Most Beloved Admin)

I know that sometimes the things of God are hard to understand, especially the Trinity. I don't believe we can use our minds to understand the Trinity because science has proved we only operate on 10 percent brain capacity. The verse that I believe proves the Trinity is found in Gen. 1:26 because it says let us create man. It is impossible to understand this concept until we go home, when we will have full restoration.
ChristineS, I know you are very passionate in what you believe, but I must disagree with you on this. Just a little word of advice and not critizing you: Your denomination or Church you go to is wrong on this point, and could be mis-leading you. I believe most Christians believe in the Trinity. Have you ever wondered why? The Bible does say, Don't lean on your own understanding.

What is bothering me is that a lot of people don't respect my opinion or others like mine. If I am wrong, I am wrong, but isn't there a chance that I am right at all? But that isn't really the point, the point isn't whether I believe in the Trinity or if I don't, it is respect for my belief. That is all I am asking. _________________ Then everyone who shall confess Me before men, I will confess him before My Father who is in Heaven. (Mat 10:32)

I do respect you. Maybe you should pray about this. I do respect others opinions, but we as Christians should preach and teach in Boldness, and especially pray for others. I pray that you receive wisdom, knowledge, and peace in the Name of Jesus.

I believe in the trinity. If you ask me it's kind of hard to be a Christian without accepting the concept of a trinity. Christ came to earth and claimed equality and oneness with God while at the same time leading a perfect human life with no sin. You can't say Jesus led a sinless life if you think he lied about his unity with the Father.
Therefore to me it seems the trinity is a necessary aspect of Christian faith. Furthermore, if you believe in an omnipotent God you shouldn't think the idea of his manifestation in three forms ridiculous. An omnipotent God could manifest himself in three thousand forms if he wanted.
Long story short, the trinity is Biblical, don't be ashamed of your belief in the concept. Definitely do not feel ashamed just because others ridicule your beliefs (so long as those beliefs are Biblical, such as the trinity). As it says in Romans 3:4, "Let God be true, and every man a liar". _________________ Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools because they have to say something. |

Admin, I don't pay any attention to skeptics. All I know is whjat the Bible says. Before the fall, Adam and Eve, they could name the animals (tiger, lion, and so forth. Trying doing that now. When Believers get to heaven, everything will be restored. Because of the fall, mankind has lost dominion. Why do you think that the Bible says Satan is the god of this world? Not my world, but the world of unbelievers.

Admin, I'm just one of those guys who you have to spell it out for, and I'm not judging anyone's belief system, but can you tell me what it means when you say the Trinity (Triune God, right?) is a "theological creation"?
I'm usually wrong about many things until I get a full understanding of it, so I don't want to postulate here. But does that mean that you believe that the Trinity was a creation from the minds of man instead of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit?
In another thread I happened upon someone saying that the "us" and "our" in Genesis' account of the creation of man was a "heavenly counsel" if I have that right? Is that what you mean?
Thanks. _________________ You may not believe in God, but He believes in you. |

golfjack, I have no idea what you're referring to in your post as it relates to this thread.
flashman, please refer me to sections of the bible that refer to the Trinity. _________________ Cybermonsters (Most Beloved Admin)

I'm just taking your quote and asking the question. I guess I just wanted to know what you meant by the statement you made. I'm not a bible "scholar", but I've read it a time or two. I'm not referring to anything in particular. I was hoping for a non-elaborate statement on what you mean, that's all. Please dont' let's go through the exercise of you making me look up a bunch of stuff and then you correcting me.
You don't even have to answer. I was just curious...and I like to learn stuff. (this is not some trap question). _________________ You may not believe in God, but He believes in you. |

My question was not a loaded question, it was a real question.
I just did a google on "mention of the Trinity in the bible" - first result is:
http://www.biblebb.com/files/macqa/1301-J-12.htm
My understanding is the Trinity is a way of reconciling Jesus, God and the descending of the Holy Spirit.
So it does not strike me as an all-important cornerstone belief. It seems to me a "theological creation" to explain how God is all these three.
In Confirmation (Lutheran) it was explaned to me as water, snow and steam. Three variations of the same substance.
I'm very open to illumination on this subject. _________________ Cybermonsters (Most Beloved Admin)

I've not experienced "attacks", more like "rebuttals" and I'm trying to get a feel for what's going on with it. I've always believed in God as a "Triune God" and now I'm seeing a little here and a little there...of Christians sporting a docrine that just doesn't seem to fit. Like you, I'm not "bothered" by it, because I KNOW where I stand, but I'm concerned tht this might be a growing phenomenon (sp?) like something Michael Moore would put forth.
