I'm not well read on this area, so this is a straight question: How do groups which don't eat pork and keep the Sabbath etc. respond to Acts 15:28 and Col.2:16?
Any coment welcome

Hi Steven3.
They wd just say that:
acts 15 meant those necessary things were in addition to what they were also to do as in keeping the Sab as Jesus kept it or in not eating pork as Peter refused to eat pork in acts 10.
and that Col 2:16 meant to let no man judge you in Hate nor condemn you for keeping any holy day or sabbath or etc since Jesus kept the weekly sabbath and the annual sabbaths or high holy days such as passover, days of unleavened bread, pentecost as in acts 2, trumpets, atonement, taberbnacles, last great day, all of which are mentioned in the NT, some in Acts.
Acts 15:28
28For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
Colossians 2:16
16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
in Love of pork and miss piggy even tho I don't eat it,

Thanks Atoz
It reads like you don't believe it yourself. I find it hard to believe anyone will claim "no greater burden" should be read "greater burden", when the "no" is sitting there plain as day.
I can see Col.2:16 on its own could be read that way except the next verse defines pork and Sabbaths as "shadows of the things to come".
2:16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. |
