Hi, My names Atlee im 14 and im from Texas. I also have a theory/question that could use opinions.

I have heard that the second coming is soon. I have also heard that it will be within the years of the 2000's, meaning anytime from now-2999. I have read a book that stated that the coming will be sometime in the seventh millenia. I talked to my youth teacher about this and we came to concluse that theere were 5 millenia before Christ and the last two after.

I was reading through Revelation last night and read over where the lamb breaks the seven seals. I believe that each seal refers to a millenia. I came to this theory by reading where the lamb breaks the fifth seal. The passage reads that after the fifth seal is broken, the apostle John saw the people who were martyred for their beliefs shout to the Lord "...when will you judge the people of this world...". I see this as the first coming of Christ because in the revelation the people asked the lord when he will judge/come again, just as people did when He came the first time.

What else could this mean?.....Any opinions.

Welcome Atleeh. If you are looking for opinions on your question or any other question, this discussion forum is a good place to find them. But they are only opinions, no more. Smile Nobby has it right, I think.

Quote:
Matt. 24:36-44 NIV]The Day and Hour Unknown
36"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Read the whole chapter! It all goes together.

Hi Atlee
One other thing. While it's not really a good idea to go number hunting in Daniel and Revelation, nevertheless there is something very different about the age we live in as compared to the last 19 Centuries during which Christians have been waiting for Christ to return - now Israel is back in the Land. They are still God's witnesses to the nations, even if, as often in the OT, they do not believe.

A lot of Christians believe that Moses' Deuteronomy 28 cycle of prophecies about Israel's history ends with the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in AD70 and the scattering of the Jews (they believe this because Daniel 8:23 "hard-faced nation" appears to interprets Deuteronomy 28:50 "a hard-faced nation who shall not respect the old or show mercy to the young" as the 4th empire, the legs of iron, in Daniel's statue vision, ergo De28 also concludes with Rome)

Moses wrote:
Deu49 The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, swooping down like the eagle, a nation whose language you do not understand, 50 a hard-faced nation who shall not respect the old or show mercy to the young. ... 64 “And the Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known. 65 And among these nations you shall find no respite, and there shall be no resting place for the sole of your foot, but the Lord will give you there a trembling heart and failing eyes and a languishing soul.

Another prophecy which many people take to suggest a return of Israel is:

Jesus wrote:
Matt 24:32 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

That's probably reasonable seeing as the fig tree is always a figure of Israel in the OT and NT. Though the parallel version in Luke has "the fig tree and all the trees" (which some people take to mean the surrounding Arab nations regaining independence, some give a spiritual meaning to "all the trees", etc.)

And there are others, Ezekiel 37's valley of dry bones probably has two fulfillments for example.. certainly in 1948 the Jews believed it referred to 1948.

The problem is that a "generation", strictly speaking, is either 30, or more usually 40, years in the Bible. That fits Jesus' prophecies about the seige of Jerusalem - Jesus told them 30AD, the Romans destroyed Jerusalem 70AD - but it doesn't fit the return of Israel. They came back 1948, so a lot of people expected (ignoring Christ's warning about datesetting in Mark13:32!) Christ to reappear in 1988.

So, probably best to stick with 2 Peter's advice.

Peter wrote:
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

God bless
Steven
