It was the Caliphate out of Turkey that contained what is now Iraq and Syria which was divided after WWI into Iraq, and Syria, and what is now left of Turkey. This Caliphate was a rather secular one, as opposed to what remains of Iran and the Shiite areas of Iraq.

The Turks have proven to be very good warriors in the past.
