this is really an awesome site. i'm glad i found it! i'm an unemployed single mother of three so it's VERY hard for me to get to church every week. and when i do, my one year old makes it almost impossible to listen to the sermon. so this is a good way to learn and get feedback.

i guess i'm a fairly baby christian. i was raised catholic, but never really got anything out of the catholic services. much to my mother's disagreement, i've started venturing off into other churches, looking for one that i can actually feel the holy spirit from. still unsuccessful. the problem is that i live in a tiny town where all the churches are comprised of no more than 30 members or so and i don't feel much of a connection with any of them. and i don't have a car to get into the city to go to a real church.

i watch joyce meyers' broadcasts a lot. she helps big time with things that i never knew or with answering some of my questions. anybody else a fan?

Hello dez, welcome.

Isn't Joyce Meyers a big "name it and claim" buff? I've only heard that through hearsay and haven't checked it out for myself yet...

HI Dez,

welcome!

As a baby christian, you can still teach all of us a lot of things: Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings.....

Joyce meyers is ok.

Re. your seeking of a good church to attend:

Have you ever thought about trying to be filled with the Holy Spirit BEFORE and IN ORDER TO find a church at which to attend?

With the HS in your heart,
would you already have the true church in your heart?

Could it be that before you can put your heart in a church,
you have to have the real church in your heart,
and to have the real church in your heart
when you have the HS in your heart?

with Love, the Holy Spirit in&of God's Holy Mind,
atoz

however, He refuses to make Himself known to me. i've prayed and prayed for SOME sort of sign that He is in me, and nothing. i went through a passionate phase of BADLY wanting the gift of tongues. nothing. i haven't been shown my spiritual gift(s) yet nor have i FELT anything different within me. i don't know what else to do.

Hi Dez,

God is Love, so he is *already* in everything you love.
1 John 4:
7Beloved, let us love one another:
for love is of God;
and every one that loveth
is born of God,
and knoweth God.

8He that loveth not
knoweth not God;
for God is love.

So, He has already shown and is showing Himself to you IN and BY who and by what you love.

So who and what do you love?
see?
Do you love yourself?
Do you lvoe your mom or your dad or your bro or your sis or your grandparents or all members of your family?
Do you love birds and butterflies and flowers and sunsets and moonlight?

Then what wd blind you to his presence is any Hate you have for you or anybody else:

So who do you hate?
What types of people do you hate?
Do you love you when you do NOT get any gifts as Xmas?
Do you lvoe those who do not give you gifts?
Do you hate those to whom God does NOT reveal or show Himself?
Do you love people who don't answer you?
Do you love others when you don't answer them?

Please read for encouragement:

"Brothers,
have no fear of men's sin.
Love a man even in his sin,
for
that is the semblance of Divine Love
and
is the highest love on earth.

Love all God's creation, the whole and every grain of sand in it.
Love every leaf, every ray of God's light.
Love the animals,
love the plants,
love everything.

If you love everything,
you will perceive the divine mystery in things.
Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day.
And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

Love the animals:
God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble it, don't harass them, don't deprive them of their happiness, don't work against God's intent. Man, do not pride yourself on superiority to the animals; they are without sin, and you, with your greatness, defile the earth by your appearance on it, and leave the traces of your foulness after you- alas, it is true of almost every one of us!

Love children especially,
for they too are sinless like the angels; they live to soften and purify our hearts and, as it were, to guide us. Woe to him who offends a child!
Father Anfim taught me to love children. The kind, silent man used often on our wanderings to spend the farthings given us on sweets and cakes for the children. He could not pass by a child without emotion. That's the
nature of the man.

At some thoughts one stands perplexed, especially at the sight of men's sin, and wonders whether one should use force or humble love.
Always decide to use humble love.
If you resolve on that once for all, you may subdue the whole world.
Loving humility is marvellously strong, the strongest of all things, and there is nothing else like it.

Every day and every hour, every minute, walk round yourself and watch yourself, and see that your image is a seemly one.

You pass by a little child, you pass by, spiteful, with ugly words, with wrathful heart; you may not have noticed the child, but he has seen you, and your image, unseemly and ignoble, may remain in his defenceless heart.
You don't know it, but you may have sown an evil seed in him and it may grow, and all because you were not careful before the child, because you did not foster in yourself a careful, actively benevolent love.

Brothers,
Love is a teacher;
but one must know how to acquire it, for it is hard to acquire, it is dearly bought, it is won slowly by long labour.

For we must love not only occasionally, for a moment, but for ever.
Everyone can love occasionally, even the wicked can."[Matthew 5:43-48]
THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV
1879
by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky

Hope that helps you, Dez.
God loves you!
I love you!

with all Godly Love and Respect,
atoz[/quote]
