|

| I have a question about divorce. I was saved and baptised a few years ago but divorced several years before then. I believed in God years ago but was not a practicing Christian and did not go to church regularly or study the bible. I wasn't even sure at that time that I fully believed in the life of Jesus, having not studied the word. I wanted children and my ex did not and I was a very unhappy women, so we divorced. Years later, I met and married another man and now have a beautiful child. We joined the church 3 1/2 years ago and now that I have read the bible more, I have doubts that God will forgiven me for my divorce. I feel like I will not go to heaven because of it. I have repented to God for my wrongdoings that I now see in the bible and know of......and I have asked for his forgiveness. I know that thru Jesus, all our sins are forgiven. Does this include divorce and remarriage? Also, has my husband sinned for marrying me and what about him? |

Yes, based on your account, it appears your prior divorce was not in accordance with the will of God and therefore was one of your sins. But, as I am sure you know, that was not your only sin. Some sins have more consequences that other sins, such as teaching a child that they is no God, that is a major sin because it causes a little one to stumble.
But does God forgive and forget all of your sins, the big ones that hurt others and the little ones that only hurt yourself? Yes. Jesus paid the price in full. God forgives all sins of those He saves. Even after you became a Christian, you sometimes sin, God forgives those too. He makes you "white as snow" and now that you are saved, nothing can pluck you out of his hand, including your growing awarness of your prior sins. Praise God, pick up your cross and follow Him. Amen. |

I heartily agree and want to say don't let Satan and your own doubts confuse you on this issue.
The devil can yell at you and try to intimidate you but if you stay in the Word and fellowship and grow in the grace of it you will see that God is always the God of the second chance until He comes again. That does not means He condones sin but He is there to forgive us and to give us a positive righteousness so that sin does not rule over us anymore. |

I agree- God is forgiving. How much so?

Learning to forgive oneself can be difficult. Remember Jeremiah 31:34 tells us "...For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sins no more."
When God says no more, he means NO MORE. He has forgotten your iniquities of past. As God cannot look upon anything evil, He turns His face from those that do evil, He must remember our sins no more.
The Bible speaks to three types of forgiveness-
1.The forgiveness God give to us
2. The forgiveness we give to ourselves
3. The forgiveness we extend to others
As all sin is against God, and only God can forgive sins(Mark 2:7), He must first forgive us when we confess and repent. Once God has forgiven us, many Christians are still bound to guilt and shame because they are unable to agree with that forgiveness. We must learn to forgive ourselves at this point. Unless we do, we can never extend forgiveness to others. We are only able to give what we have received. _________________ "He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." Matthew 11:15
Yours in Christ with much love,
