When I was still a Roman Catholic and believing in the infallibility of the Pope as “teacher,” we were taught of the “Eucharist” at the Mass that the “host or piece of bread turned into the real body” and the “wine in the chalice into blood” of Jesus. This is how we were made to believe of the following promises of our Lord:
• Joh 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, YE HAVE NO LIFE IN YOU.
• Joh 6:55 FOR MY FLESH IS MEAT INDEED, AND MY BLOOD IS DRINK INDEED.
• Joh 6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, DWELLETH IN ME, AND I IN HIM.
No wonder the Mass is the highest form of our worship where we "eat the host" and call this “holy communion.”
After reading the Holy Bible and I realized “religious traditions” are added to the inspired word, and this is an abomination to God:
• Deu 4:2 Ye shall NOT ADD unto the word which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
• Prov 30:6 ADD THOU NOT unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
• Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, IF ANY MAN SHALL ADD unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And IF ANY MAN SHALL TAKE AWAY FROM THE WORDS of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
I joined two Evangelical churches were the Pastors conducted the rite of “breaking of the bread” in our Fellowship, emulating our Lord at the Last Supper.
• Mat 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
• Mat 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
• Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
We were never taught of the real message of “Eat my flesh, drink my blood” our Lord enjoined His Disciples to do in Joh 6:53-56.
This is where I began to search for “Divine Revelation” as distinguished from “Human precept” on this particular matter.

What does “flesh” that our Lord mean “to eat,” and His “blood” “to drink” that we may reap the following promises?
• Joh 6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, DWELLETH IN ME, AND I IN HIM.
• Joh 6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even HE SHALL LIVE BY ME.
• Joh 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I WILL RAISE HIM UP AT THE LAST DAY.
• Joh 6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread SHALL LIVE FOR EVER. _________________ I love to talk about the word of God since I sincerely believe He is being represented thereto. |

Hi Sandra
It's a pleasure to put a name to fl3232003, the ID with which you posted the same initial question posts to the BTDF forum. You know me as "Steven" there. Would you prefer answers here or there?

More than that, the bread symbolizes the "one loaf", fellowship with other believers.
And more again, the true bread, and true vine, are staying in Jesus by trying to walk like him and talk like him.
Is this along the lines of what you were hoping to hear?
God bless
