there's a story to follow...will link later when I find a good summary...

In short, DC has a gun ban. 6 city residents sued the city for the right to possess guns in their homes for self-defense....It's already moved from the city court to federal court...the 6 citizens have won twice...it's expected to go to the Supreme Court and it's expected to be heard....pretty cool stuff!

I don't see how there could be a gun ban... It makes practical sense (at least kind of), but it's totally against the constitution...

Shocked

Dude...is this the same P#s? Most of our major cities and many many smaller municipalities have either total gun bans (except for police/state/federal police) or incredibly restrictive gun laws....In fact, the cities with the highest murder rates have the most restrictive laws!

That's what I was trying to stress in the earlier posts....Rolling Eyes

When did I ever say having total gun bans was good? After the Virginia Tech massacre, I was arguing that they shouldn't sell guns to crazy people, that's all. I argue that they should change the law there to make it impossible for unstable crazy people to buy handguns. I never called for a total ban!

And of course total gun bans (regardless of whether they are right or wrong) are against the constitution; it's pretty clear on the subject of the right to bear arms.
