For those who would dare to speak out about Islam and the Prophet... on the blogosphere, it appears that comes out to your parents wishing you were dead, the prosecutor going jihaddy on you, and... oh... of course, only four years of your life.

But, hey... Islam is the religion of peace, tolerance, enlightenment... Rolling Eyes

Take a look HERE.

Are you surprised? Islam has no concept of democracy, free speech, or a separation between church and state.

What did the guy think was going to happen? That he'd be treated as if he was in a civilized country?

My guess is he prolly thought that since it was on the internet, and 90% of the folks in Egypt prolly don't even know what that is.... he could get away with a little blaspheming...

Who knows, but it is so typical of Islam to do this to its own.

Are you forgetting this is a nation seen to be one of the 'best' in the middle east. Its got full American support behind, and well they'll continue to prop up toadies like Mubarak to oppress his own people.

I can at understand the 3 years for insulting Islam and inciting sedition, but if anything, surely insulting Mubarak was a good thing?

But I am genuinely chuckling at the idea that you two actually believe Egypt to resemble any form of Islamic government, in the slightest.

Oh, and P, why do you think its called The Arab Republic of Egypt???

Seperation between church and state? pfft, P, you honestly have absolutely no idea what you are rabbitting on about these days!! Rolling Eyes

How hard can it be to do some research before speaking???

There's an interesting contrast between these two statements. Care to explain it?

First of all, Egypt is hardly a model democracy. Secondly, even if you were right and it is, what about the other 95% of undemocratic countries (mostly brutal dictatorships) in which Muslims form the majority of the population? My claim that Islam goes hand-in-hand with totalitarianism and authoritarianism is bang on!

Let me ask you this: Would you like it if the entire world was Islamic, and if everyone on Earth was a Muslim?

Nice, maybe now you can realise that democracy in Egpyt is a joke, it doesnt work, and it wont work. Such a horrible and brutal dictatorship in Egpyt, yet it has American support behind it, and monotery aid, and is considered one of America's allies. Either this is hypocricy, or the US doesnt seem all that altruistic anymore - it will do anything and help anyone only for the betterment of its own.

And what about the other countries, many of which have toadies at the top, which America has in one way of another helped to prop up. Are you going to say they have Islamic governments, just like you wrongly thought Egpyt had an Islamic one? Because they dont. The sooner the crooks at the top are gone and Islamic governments in their full can take over, the better, IMHO.

What do you say about the authoritarianism in this example of being jailed for insulting the President, happening in a country, Egypt, which as you may have realised by now, is not Islamic and is closer to a secular democracy? What do you also say about the authoritarian rule of China, a secular country?

"Would you like it if the entire world was Islamic, and if everyone on Earth was a Muslim?" ~ Yes I would, and yes I would. And?

But arent you the one who wants the whole world 'de-islamized' and to be non-Islamic?

ps: would you like to see Egpyt become a bit more 'democratic' and lift its ban on the Muslim Brotherhood, allow them fair play in the political process to oppose the current government, bearing in mind they, The MB, have the strongest opposition to the Current National Democratic Party?

Are you suggesting an Islamic governance in Egpyt?

Not necessarily, I'm questioning how someone gets sentenced for "insulting Islam" in a country which is not Islamic?

While they have a toadie in power, Mubarak, it does not mean that any laws that could have been there previously or which are made now are totally devoid of any Islamic bearing, bearing in mind Egypt is quite an important centre of Islam, most notably one of Islam highest institutions is there, the Al Azhar Academy. As well as Islam, there are also laws against insulting Christianity and Judaism.

Whether a country professes to be an Islamic Democracy, Theocracy, Dictatorship, etc... is irrelevant. The fact is, Mohamed was the model for behavior in Islam (See Quran, Hadith, Sunnah). Any criticism of Islam, following the model of Mohammed, deserves to be punished. If Mubaric were not in charge, the guy prolly would have received a much worse sentence. Mubaric, based on my understanding, is about the only one there keeping the jihaddies from break dancing on the heads of these infidels. The majority of the country is Islamic... like 90%... and they operate based on said laws/precedents… while the Christians sit idly by paying their jizya… not lifting a finger.

I honestly believe if Mubaric weren’t there the Egyptina Army would be running whild in the Sinai provoking some type of “Israeli Aggression” worthy of another UN Condemnation.

Mubarak is a lovely example of a) how well democracy would work in the middle east, and b) the model to be followed by other Arab nations. Haha.

Since you nothing of the region it seems, Muby is just using Islam as an excuse to get his way. The insulting Islam thing is the minor part, its the insulting Mubarak that he's really after.

Heck why is the onus on me here. Mubarak is one of yours. A secularist democratic leader, fully supported by the US government. Quality example of democracy and its fruits eh?

And which Islamic leader in the Middle East doesn't use Islam to get his way again? Laughing Laughing Laughing
