A black eye for who? The Iraqi people who elected him? The US? Bush? Democracy writ large?

e) All of the above.

/sigh

At least Al-Maliki is saying the right thing..."Present evidence. If true, he should be impeached/removed/whatever"...now, let's see if they do it...

It's no worse than right here in the farce of our Congress...

Remember the (Democrat Sponsored) Senate Bill to pass a non-binding resolution? Remember Senator John Warner (Virginia Repbulican) who said
"he does not support the President on increasing the troop levels in Iraq’ and calling escalation ‘a mistake,’.”

He voted against it....
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=1&vote=00044

He has submitted a separate bill himself...let's see how that turns out.

The current non-binding resolutions wandering the halls of the senate will do nothing, they're designed to do nothing but introduce the bigger issues latter on, a preliminary "shot over the bow" of a presidency that is ignoring the calls to reason from all quarters. Even these simple little stratagems are being shot down, mired in the rules of debate which the democrats themselves used previously to get what they wanted.

That is why a certain republican senator could vote against his own resolution in favor of following the pressure from Bush.

Which calls are you specifically talking about. Don't provide more of the shill rhetorical mantra... what 'call to reason' (and please quantify reason if you plan to cite it) are you referring too. I have seen NO PLAN at all offered up to that Bush has ignored. You got a better idea on what should be done... lets hear it.

Not so much Bush... but he Commander on the ground in Iraq... who specifically stated the resolution would not be beneficial to the troop moral. So, the senator has a decision to make... he can either pick up the phone, tell the President he has a problem with his course of action in Iraq, or... he can grandstand and very publicly voice this displeasure at the cost of troop moral by passing a do-nothing –more-then-embolden-our-enemy-at-the-cost-of-our-solider’s-moral resolution.

It is his decision. I’d be interested in hearing what you think of the resolution.
