I would like to invite all of you to pray with me and for me and for each other.
It should be recited each time we visit these forums.
pause for a moment of quite refelection as we remember that we are in God's holy presence.
In the name of our God who is three in one:
The Creator who calls us into existence,
The Christ who calls us to be of service to one another,
The Holy Spirit who calls us to new life,
We pray . . .
Creator God, we are about to begin our work today, and we do so with the awareness that without your Divine Presence here at the center of our work, and also within ourselves, our work will be empty. Grace us with your Wisdom and Vision; gift us with Humor and Humility so that not only this meeting but all our lives may be a meeting place for your Kingdom. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
The Holy Spirit descended on the apostles and on all those who were gathered together with them in the large upper room. The Spirit came to bring them wisdom, the wisdom of grace and love which was poured out upon them like a strong, driving wind . . .We pray The Spirit of God should come and rest upon us . . . to make it possible for us to live and to act only by the action of the Spirit in us . . . we need the fullness of the Spirit of God in the work that we do, for we should live and be guided only according to the spirit and light of faith; it is only the Spirit of God who can give us this gift . . . We carry out a work that requires us to touch hearts, but this we cannot do except by the Spirit of God. Pray to God to give us today the same wisdom that was given the holy apostles.
May the work that we will soon begin
sing praise to you.
May the work that we will soon begin
speak like the prophets of old of your beauty and unity.
May the work that we will soon begin be a shimmering mirror of your handiwork
in the excellence of its execution,
in the joy of doing it,
in our poverty of ownership over it,
in our invitation to others to share in it,
and in its bearing fruit for the world.
May we be aware that through this work we draw near to you.
We come to you with ready hands. Amen! |
