Muslim Woman Sues to Wear Veil in Driver's License Photo

If memory serves, when this story first broke last year some time the media showed a picture of this woman as Sandra Keller before she converted to Islam. She was your typical white Christian who ended up jumping the fence to Islam. So for years her family and friends saw her face and she lived day to day out in the open like the rest of us. There are likely countless photographs of this woman circulating about her friends and family prior to 'conversion,' so many people have seen what she looks like. Now, all of a sudden it's an issue with her...a woman who for the better part of her life walked in broad daylight face exposed for all to see. Confused or disgusted I just don't get it. Is this just your typical run-of-the-mill "I want my 15 minutes of fame" syndromes from someone who just doesn't get enough attention at home or what Rolling Eyes

Freeman claims her religious beliefs require her to keep her head and face covered out of modesty and that her faith prohibits her face from being photographed.

Yeah, well some religious beliefs professed by certain sects attest their religious rights not to provide life saving measures to their family members (to include children who suffer needlessly a horrifying and painful death from curable ailments) in favor of splashing a little ointment and holy water over them and praying until the cows come home. Some religious beliefs professed by certain sects attest their religious rights to physically abuse their child ('Spare the rod, spoil the child'). Some religiousl beliefs professed by certain sects attest their religious rights to murder 'the infidels' in the name of their Lord God, Allah, etc.

I can go on and on with one asinine argument after another where someone professes their 'religious rights' that are completely ludicrous. The same as this woman's argument to wear her vail in the face of local, state and national security (if she gets to do it so will everyone else - and then some). I mean come on, it doesn't take much for a man to doll up their eyes and pass for a woman under the cloak and dagger of a black sheet and veil. Rolling Eyes

"This is about religious liberty. It's about whether this country is going to have religious diversity," said Howard Marks, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union (search) of Florida.

I'd like him to say this to all the dead children and other family members of the Followers of Christ Church in Oregon City, OR. Tell them it was their parents religious freedom to deny them a chance at life by refusing them life saving medical care. Moreover, I want Mr. Marks to explain to them why they never got the chance to choose for themselves whether or not they wanted to adhere to their parents religious beliefs. While he's at it, let's get Mr. Marks to tell this same line of reasoning to all the people left behind whose family members and friends were murdered 9/11. Please, Mr. Marks, explain how it was the terrorists religious liberty to act as they did in the name of Allah.

Is it just me or does anyone else see the utter stupidity and blantant ignorance of such an asinine argument as this 'religious liberty/diversity' argument? Especially in this case whereas this woman is concerned!
