Are you actually being serious here P? There aren't many mechanisms? I have noticed that this type of attitude permeates about 50% of our population... I'll give you one guess what the majority political persuasion is... but anyway... I would like to know what prevents someone from rising to the top of anything in the US?

luck and timing factor in there too, but I think that there are many more paths to "success" than what you've listed P#s... _________________ Links of note:"Review for Doubting Christians"

Here's my take on the whole Kerry thing: he's an idiot for giving Karl Rove's attack machine so much ammunition.
And if you hate Kerry right now, and think he has something to do with the midterm elections, then you're being manipulated.
Here is a reasonable analysis:

Yeah, and Kerry is the loser who keeps on hurting the Democratic cause...
All of the negative publicity on him is a total red herring. He isn't even running during the midterm elections! He has nothing to do with it. But for some reason, instead of attacking the real Democratic candidates, the Republicans are attacking him! And it's working!
That's not exactly a ringing endorsement of the critical thinking skills of the American voters...
If anything, you guys should vote Democrat just because the Republicans assume that you're so stupid... _________________ "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."

No... you have that backwards P... Kerry thinks that you are stupid... that is what got him in trouble to begin with... he should have at least has the courtesy to keep his honest opinion to himself. _________________ Exodus 20:11 "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them..."

So what's the big deal? Stephen Hawking also probably thinks you're stupid, but what does that have to do with the midterm elections?
But seriously, you should be insulted by the fact that the Republican media attack machine is harping on this Kerry thing. They honestly think that if they bang away on this drum, it's going to hurt the Democrats on midterm election day. This means that they have no respect for the voting public. _________________ "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."

P123... I don't think it is unreasonable for the american people to feel insulted for being called stupid. I understand that you want every bad thought, or hostile desire to be directed towards the republicans, but seriously, Kerry jacked himself up and he is paying for it. The whole issue really has nothing to do with any election. If he said it in a non-election year he would have recieved just as much flack. _________________ JP's Mind - my blog

I agree completely.

Not quite. I wish it were so. Kerry jacked himself up and Democratic candidates that have nothing to do with Kerry and who probably totally disagree with what he said are paying the price...

Sure, but the point is that the Republicans are using Kerry's stupidity to smear all of the Democratic candidates; I find this to be a dishonest tactic, don't you? _________________ "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."

I've only seen candidates address Kerry and his comments specifically. _________________ JP's Mind - my blog
