You may all be saying...women cannot be pastors. I have heard many arguments on this subject and why women should not be pastors. But what if you are lead to be in that possition.
It has been many many years since the bible was writen and it has been many many years since God created man and women.

So what if you think God is leading you to become a pastor. There are woman pastors out there and you certainly cannot disregard what the Lord is telling you.

Are you saying that the truth of scripture is not eternal? That it changes dependent upon circumstances or societal changes?

What is it about being a 'Pastor' do you, or whoever, feels they are being called to?

ah no...not saying that the bible is not eternal. I was thinking more along the lines of the role of women with the times.
thats a hard one to get into anyhow...don't know that I should touch it.

ah so you caught me Smile I have felt that I am being called do the Service of God for a long time. I have the words repeating in my head to Spread the Word...I have looking into Missions but somehow I feel that bible college is the way for me.

Maybe I Grew up thinking it was wrong to be dominated completely by men. I do think women should submit to men. However I do not think they are in control of women. someone explained it to me like this.

Jesus submits to gods will and the spirit submits to gods will.

wives submit to there husbands will and children submit to both there mother and fathers will.

I believe that in becoming a pastor or some religious standing I am submiting to Gods will. It isnt nessisarily that I am drawn myself to becoming a pastor. Actually I find it kind of scary to stand up infront of people and talk about God...But what if God is telling me to.

Hope some of that makes sence

Well, clearly any woman that feels called to be a pastor is being influenced by Satan rather than the Holy Spirit.

Isn't that the normal excuse?

How could preaching the Lords word be influenced by Satan?

If you're doing it wrong? And since you're not doing as the Good Book says you must be being influenced by Satan, there's simply no other explanation.

(The Satan of the Bible is not the Satan that Christians are taught about. Still doesn't exist, but he's not the "ULTIMATE EVIL!" enemy Christians make him out to be. Even in the Bible he's basically just a figure that judges humans for God)

Hmmm I see what you mean...however I do not think that God would be angry with a women for sharing the word to public...Because he does say to share the word. Now would it be the same if a women had a pastors education and used it differently. Say for missions.

But Paul not only said that women should wear head coverings, but that they shouldn't teach either!

Clearly Satan's gotten ahold of your mind.

Or Paul was just a mysogynist. But if that was the only reason he wrote the bit about coverings and such, he shouldn't even be in the Bible because if he writes so indiscriminately about things that he believes God wants and things he wants and doesn't distinguish them and oh no

She doesn't HAVE to say it.... Scripture very clearly states that it is not eternal. For example, the Old Covenant was a set of morals and rules that were not written in stone. They were clearly replaced by the New Covenant, showing that not all morals and rules in the Bible are eternal.

They were apparently replaced by the "New Covenant," according to a fraction of Christians (who in my opinion are simply looking for an easy religion to follow, many of the Jewish restrictions would be considered unpleasant by those unused to them). The idea has been and still is under debate. Further, the first "Christians" (back when "Christians" was a derogatory moniker) did not have this idea of a "New Covenant" that removed all the older Jewish restrictions. They still followed all the Jewish laws.

The laws in the OT as stated are eternal — there isn't an "until Jesus" clause. Further, Jesus is recorded as stating that he did not come to remove the old laws but to fulfill them — last I checked fulfilling laws didn't make them suddenly inapplicable. In addition to that, he states that none of the law passes away until all is fulfilled. Last I checked, there are still people on this glorious blue ball.

The funny thing is, they were written in stone!

Wings, I would caution you not to listen too closely to FFT. He really isn't the one you want to trust for scriptural understanding... unless of course you wish to go the Seminary of the AntiChirst... Wink

Just Kidding! Mostly. He's not the antichrist. A close cousin maybe... Razz

The reason I asked the questions I asked is simple; do you want to pastor a church or do you want to preach God's Word?

I suspect that you are using 'Pastor' as a catchall for 'preacher, evangelist, missionary, what have you'.

By definition a Pastor is one is a minister or priest in charge of a church, one who has spiritual care of a number of persons.

Is this the position you are seeking? Is this what you feel you are being called to do?

I understand that the whole 'women pastor' idea is a touchy issue in today's society, but scripturally it really should not happen. It is my opinion that the Holy Spirit would not call one to do something that is contrary to scripture (actually I think it is more than my opinion but I am too lazy right now to look up the scriptures verifying it, sorry.)

Preaching and teaching are different issues though. Contrary to what FFT says, women can, and are, called to teach, preach, and prophecy. If indeed you are feeling called to the Service of God, I commend you. If that call leads you to Spreading the Word of God in some fashion, I encourage you.

Interestingly enough I've agreed with nearly everyone here on certain scriptural issues (which issues depend on the person). It's just that I don't agree that 1. the Bible is inspired by God or 2. God even exists. I think I do a good job of arguing within the context of the Bible.

By Satan, maybe.

But no, I don't believe that Satan calls on women to be preachers (would be rather difficult to simultaneously believe that and that Satan doesn't even exist). It's just that according to Paul they shouldn't, and if Paul was inspired by God, clearly it can't be God that's calling women to preach. Unless 1. Paul was wrong (or we've badly missed his message) or 2. God changed his mind.
