i guess this is the right place for this...i just wanted to tell some good news...and this is all true...i am not lying...
theseldomscene was anchored in miami beach last year with about forty other boats right behind south beach...(it is illegal to anchor there for more than seventy two hours now..but no limits then)....
well during the last hurricane season(when it was still legal) many boats left for fear of storms but the most stayed...that part of florida got a little smack or two...
of all the boats at our anchorage only one had a person aboard(a cool german guy named deita(?) or something...i can't really understand him..)...well his boat, with him on it, stayed afloat with some damage....and the only other boat that stayed afloat...out of all that stayed there through the storm...was theseldomscene...
i had her on a three anchor mooring with a ten to one scope...duude...she walked it...but...
she lost her companionway hatch...and took on about eight inches of water...but wasn't fazed at all....and the other boat...that didn't sink...then moved to miami to anchor...as it is still legal there...so
i paid someone(a different german guy who is a top notch sailor and captian...but i can't really understand him either) i know well who lives down there to go look at tss and pump her out and fix what ever she needed fixed as well as move her to a legal anchorage...as i live over seven hours away from there...
so...he did all those things and tarped tss's open companionway, taking her to miami to anchor...right beside of the other boat that stayed afloat in miami beach...well...it seems that while the first german guy who is cool that i can't understand was exiting the old, now illegal anchorage, he found tss's hatch somehow and held on to it...that is great...as it would be hard to find one for her....she is special and would need a custom job(expensive )...and he even put it on her for me....GOD is good... |

cool...
i am a sailing(offshore and coastal cruising) and navigation(all forms) instructor in the winter and do charter fishing(shark and tarpon) in the summer now...so it works out well...i don't do a lot of deliveries anymore but that was my main stay for a while but these days i am too busy doing lessons and charters to have that kind of fun...but plan on sneaking one in this fall ... ...
the school i teach for now is a big name in racing schools because of the success of those teaching the program...all world class competitors in racing ...i don't race...
the school decided to extend its courses to including cruising and offshore sailing a few years ago...they originally approached another offshore instructor with a reputation, who happened to be an old sailing pal of mine from way back(we did our sea survival trainning together as matter of fact, when we were younger men), to see if he'd head up that department, but he had his own gig so he recommended me...they had never heard of me and from what i understand were reluctant at first because of my unknown status(i had never even written an article or had a sponsor) ...but under his persistent advisement and because he is who he is in the world of cruising, they called and asked me to go sailing...i've spent the last three sailing seasons(winter here) with them heading up their offshore cruising instruction dept....and get to sit in the company of some of the finest sailors anywhere....
what is your nautical interest?... |

Well, I'm no sailor, though I'd love to be. I love being on the water, whether it be the ocean or a river. My primary nautical device is a kayak, or perhaps a canoe. My navigational abilities, however, are limited to these small craft. I have found a reason to admire you, TSS. I'm sure the two of us would have a dandy time downing beers on a boat in the middle of the Atlantic. |

TSS, a river guide! My hats are off to you, my fellow river rat. Really, all this time I thought you were good for nothing but hekkling, and now to find that you and I have a common passion. I actually recently moved to Montana, but I was too late for the whitewater season. Come spring, I will Christen myself in the white waters of the Big Sky.
Anyway, perhaps we can become friends now, eh? |

sure, i've always considered us friends....but you're still a heretic ...and as such must be resisted with all availible hekkling ....but i do like you...you make me laugh... and not just at your theology ...
montana is a great place...
my father(real dad) was a hunting guide and did a lot of trips to montana and canada toward the end of his life...but i never got to go...just pictures and stories... |

So so you live on the west coast or the east coast? Or is that asking too much info? |
