I really don't get it... After the big terror plot was foiled here in Toronto, one would expect the Muslim community to condemn fundamentalism and distance itself from radical Islam, but someone isn't getting the message, because the organizers of the Toronto Islamic Foundation's Youth Tarbiyah conference have invited Sheik Riyadh ul Haq, a crazy Imam from Britain to come and lecture to the Muslim youth in the community.

Check it out:

Apparently a similar conference in Montreal uninvited him:

But the Toronto organizers apparently say that he is an 'inspirational speaker', and refuse to cancel his talk. Just what does he inspire, though...

Can anyone out there explain to me what the heck the organizers of the conference are thinking?

Maybe they're afraid to refuse him, on grounds that they might make a dangerous enemy? Perhaps it's a diplomatic maneuver to keep our enemies closer? It sounds like this speech he's set to give is going to spread hate messages about other religions, which is not cool. If we catch him doing it, can't we take some sort of action against him, though?

I don't think there's much that can be done. Canadians enjoy freedom of expression, but unfortunately in cases like this it turns out to be a double-edged sword.

The only way to get him would be if he was actually promoting violence. The guy probably isn't stupid; I doubt that he explicitly tells people to go and commit violent acts. I think the argument can be made that he is inciting violence, though, since it apparently doesn't take much to get extreme Muslims to go and plan violent acts like cutting the Prime Minister's head off...

So then, the onus is really on the audience to behave themselves and not plan/execute acts of violence...

When he posted the link over a month ago, readers didn't have to pay. You must have to pay for archived stories though.

A quick google on the title (which you are still privy to) reveals this:
