This must be important, as it is in 3 of the Gospels. Jesus said we must accept His word as a little child. What does this mean? I think it means we are to have faith like a small child. Children do not question things as much as adults do. They have more trust. And we should have that same trust in Our Lord.
Mat 18:2 Then Jesus called a little child, and set him in their midst,
Mat 18:3 and said, "Assuredly I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 18:3 and said, "Assuredly I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 18:4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child, he is the greater in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 18:5 And whoever receives one such little child in My name, receives Me.
Mar 9:36 And taking a child, He stood him in their midst. And taking him in His arms, He said to them,
Mar 9:37 whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me, but Him who sent Me."
Luk 9:47 But Jesus, having seen the thought of their heart, taking a little child, He stood him beside Himself,
Luk 9:48 and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all shall be great."

Hi ChristineS....
I'm thinking like one who submits themselves to their parents..
That we are to humble ourselves like children before God....
looking up children and humble:
humble:
2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2Ch 34:27 Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard [thee] also, saith the LORD.
Mat 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
peace

Years ago I read in I Peter 3:4, "But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."
And I was sure that I was in trouble. On the surface I didn't have an ounce of meekness and still don't, nor is there much quietness about me,
But I loved God's Word and honored it. Then I realized that it isn't the outward man that God sees, it is the obedient hidden man of the heart; the heart that listens and believes and trusts in him that is in the sight of God of great price.
Isaiah 55:8, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
With that in mind I humble myself under the Word and become as a little child, after all we are the children of God.

Hey, Good Post and Responses!
AS A CHILD. . .
Have you ever bent down and got eye-level with a Child? You can communicate Much Better at their Level.
That child will respond much better at their level, then if you Stand Over them and Bark Out Commands!
THAT CHILD, is open, in their Child Like Nature, TO WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY!
SO IT IS WITH US IN CHRIST JESUS! He has come down, From Heaven, in the form of Jesus, and tried to Share with US, == HIMSELF!
THAT IS ULTIMATELY WHAT THE FATHER WANTS! His HOLY Spirit = = LIVES in each and every Real Believer! He can lead US = Through the WORD, = = IF and ONLY = = WHEN WE OBEY!
1. (Matthew 11:28-29-30) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
(Mat 11:29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
(Mat 11:30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
NOW, DID you ever read these verses about JESUS?
(Hebrews 5:8-9) Though he were a Son, = = yet learned he obedience = = by the things which he suffered;
(Heb 5:9) And being made perfect, = = he became the author of eternal salvation = = unto all them that obey him;
A. Son [or Daughter of God]
B. Learned Obedience [God Jesus learned Obedience = as we need to!]
C. By the things He SUFFERED
D. Being made Perfect [Complete]
E. Became the Author [As Creator = Colossians 1:14-to-18]
F. ETERNAL SALVATION [Ephesians 1:12-13-14]
G. UNTO = All His Children [John 3:3-7]
H. That OBEY HIM [Jesus] [Luke 6:46]
Thanks, Roger R. |

I like your post Roger. I agree, Nana's post was awesome! Amen!
Your post, Roger reminded me of the sermon on Sunday. Our pastor was talking about "I am the good shephard" so says Jesus & it was related to listening to Christ's voice. The movie "Babe" was referenced as something we could relate to & how Babe the pig was trying to become a shepherd & everyone told him it was impossible b/c he was a pig. He then learned how to speak the sheep's language so he could become that shepherd. So it is the same w/Jesus. He speaks our language. God humbled himself & became like us to speak our language so when He calls for us we'll be able to hear Him just like the sheep in the fields. Our pastor had taken a trip to India & told us that the shepherd only comes out 2-3 times a day to guide the sheep. If sheep stray, when they hear their shepherd's voice, they come back. They absolutely recognize that shepherd's voice. So it is the same w/us. We must be able to recognize our Great Shepherd's voice.
Anyway, when you said about getting on the eye-level of the child to better communicate, it just reminded me of that. Have a blessed day! |
