1. It was to arise among the ten divisions of the Roman Empire (Dan 7:8).

2. It would destroy three of the ten kingdoms (Dan 7:8). The Roman power destroyed the Heruli in A.D. 493, (2) the Vandals in A.D. 534, (3) the Ostrogoths in A.D. 538.

3. It would speak great words against the Most High (Dan 7:25; Rev 13:6). "The Pope is of so great dignity and so exalted, that he is not a mere man, but as it were God, and the vicar of God." - P.F.L. Ferraris, Ecclesiastical Dictionary, art. On The Pope.

4. It would wear out the saints (Dan 7:25; Rev 13:7). "That the Church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that has ever existed among mankind, will be questioned by no Protestant who has a competent knowledge of history..." - William Edward Hartpole Lecky, History of the Rise and Influence of the Spirit of Rationalism in Europe, vol.2 (London: Longmans, Green and Company, 1904). P.32.

5. It would be guilty of blasphemy (Rev 13:6; Dan 7:25). The church has claimed, that the Pope is God and has the power to forgive sin. When Jesus made these claims, the Jews accused Him of blasphemy. The church, also claims, that Mary is co-Mediator and co-Redeemer, that the priests "create God" in The Eucharist, etc.

6. It would attempt to change times and divine law (Dan 7:25). The Ten Commandments were written with the very finger of God, yet, the Catholic church claimed the authority to delete the 2nd (graven images) and split the last to come up with ten. It, also, "changed" the fourth - changing the day of worship and rest (officially, at The Council of Laodicea, 364 A.D.) from the seventh day (instituted by God at Creation) to the first day of the week ("the venerable day of the sun") - "thinking to change times and law" - no man/institution can change God's law.

7. It would exercise power over all kindreds, tongues and nations (Rev 13:7). The nations of the world send ambassadors to this Roman church/state!

8. The Dragon would give his power, seat and great authority to this beast (Rev 13:2). The Caesars of the Roman Empire gave their power, seat and authority to the Bishop of Rome. The official title of the Papacy - Vicarius Filii Dei, which means, Vicar of the Son of God, adds up to 666 in Latin, Greek and Hebrew (remember, it's "the number of his name").

9. It was to continue in world domination fro 1260 years (Rev 13:5; Dan 7:25). 42 months x 30 days to the Bible month = 1260 days or years (Ezek 4:6). After defeating the Ostrogoths, she arose and reigned until 1798 A.D.

10. It would receive a mortal wound (Rev 13:3). On February 10, 1798, Napoleon's general, Berthier, entered Rome and took Pope Pius V1 captive (Rev 13:10). Napoleon decreed, that at the death of the Pope (in August, 1799), the Papacy would end. "Half Europe thought...that without the Pope, the Papacy was dead."

11. It would amaze the whole world, for it's deadly wound would be healed (Rev 13:3). In August, 1929, in a letter written by the Pope in Current History Magazine, the Pope said, "...EFFORTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO HEAL THE WOUND." - p. 847.

From the very beginning of Mussolini's dictatorship, both the church and state determined to settle the Roman question. On February 11, 1929, a concordat was signed, thus restoring the place of the Papacy, and as The S.F. Chronicle Newspaper reported, the wound was healed.

The Bible tells us who the Antichrist is. The Reformers: Luther, Calvin, Wesley, Wycliffe, Knox, Tyndale, King James, Melanchthon and Zwingli, studied the Scripture, came to this same conclusion, and were persecuted by the church. The time is short. It is essential, that our doctrine come from the Word of God, alone (sola scritura), for it is the only sure foundation, and we are headed for difficult times.

I'm pretty sure that there have been instutions responsible for more innocent blood than the Catholics since 1904.

Reference, please.

They were wrong, or so you'd likely have us believe (since you're referencing Revelation), weren't they?

herald wrote:

That's Paul's fault.

Interesting. I've been to several Catholic schools over my educational history, and I've never seen them leave out this commandment. Do you have a reference for this?

True.

But according to Daniel 7:26, this isn't possible! More on this later.

Except that there are two more likely explanations of the whole 666 thing.

1. Nero.

2. The fact that DCLXVI (666 in Roman numerals) was used synonymously with how we use "lots." Hence, why you have to calculate it — the number isn't known.

First, Daniel mentions nothing like this. Daniel 7:25 refers to three and a half "times," whatever a "time" is. Note that in the next verse (7:26), these "times" will be ended by a court, and his authority will be removed — destroyed and abolished forever. The Catholic Church managed to recover, so Daniel can't be talking about them.

You're missing a part:

13:3 One of the beast’s heads appeared to have been killed, but the lethal wound had been healed. And the whole world followed the beast in amazement;

Last I checked, that didn't ever happen.

herald wrote:

I like this.

Especially that you even included a reference to Ezekiel, a demonstrably false prophet.

tss says,
this is way off...not only is it so dated it can no longer apply...but if you and the man who said it in 1904 had knowledge of mideast history...you'd see that is sooo far off it is funny...unless you don't consider governments, leaders and monarcies institutions...

also in eze.4...GOD was refering to laying seige on jerusalem...how have you seen fit to mush it in with this other stuff...the j.w.'s do that...as do the preterist...and many others, but no where does it even imply that it could be used as such or in such a way....i can make all kinds of funny little tales by using things in a way they were not used in the word and make it say whatever i wanted...like you did...

the protestant church is the great harlot that rides the head of the beast...yes, and the maddening wine of her adultries is evangelism done by the protest. church around the world...i can make a good case for it...but is would be as much nonsense as this...

As to the changes in the Ten Commandments, you may want to refer to a Catholic Catechism.

"The Pope has power to change time, to abrogate (change) laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ." Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcop.

"Question - Have you any other way of proving that the church (Roman Catholic) has power to institute festivals of precept?

"Answer - Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her - she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no scriptural authority." A Doctrinal Catechism, by Stephen Keenan, pg 174.

"The Catholic church," declared Cardinal Gibbons, "by virtue of her divine mission changed the day from Saturday to Sunday."

"Again, the question - "Which is the Sabbath day?
"Answer - Saturday is the Sabbath day.
"Question - Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday, because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday." The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, pg. 50, third edition.

Rome says, "Of course the Catholic Church claims the change was her act...and the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters." Thomas, H.F., Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons, in answer to a letter regarding the change of the Sabbath.

Again Rome says, "It's (Sunday's change for Saturday) the MARK of our authority to OVER-RULE GOD'S LAW." Father Enright, C.S.S.R., President of Redemptorist College, History of the Sabbath, pg 802.

"Sunday is our MARK of authority...The church is ABOVE THE BIBLE, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact." The Catholic Record, Sept. 1, 1923.

"The Bible says, 'Remember (actually, it was God who said, "Remember" (my comment, here)) that thou keep holy the Sabbath day.' The Catholic Church says, 'No! by my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day, and COMMAND you to keep holy the first day of the week. And, lo! The entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic Church." Father Enright.

"We (the Pope) hold upon this earth, the place of God Almighty." - Pope Leo, X111, Encyclical Letter "The Reunion of Christendom, dated June 20, 1894.

"The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but HE IS JESUS CHRIST Himself, hidden under the veil of flesh." - The Catholic National, July 1, 1895.

"We define that the Holy Apostolic See and the Roman Pontiff hold the primacy over the whole world..." - Council of Florence, Session XXV (July 6, 1439), Definitio, in Mansi, Sacrorum Counciliorum, vol. 31, col. 1031, Latin.

" A few of these blasphemous statements appear in the ecclesiastical dictionary, by Lucius Ferraris, entitled Prompta Bibliotheca Canonica, Vol. V1, pgs. 438, 442, article "Pope". The Catholic Encyclopedia, 1913 edition, Vol. V1, p.48, speaks of this book as "A veritable encyclopedia of religious knowledge, " and "a precious mine of information."

"The pope is of so great dignity and so exalted, that he is not a mere man, but AS IT WERE GOD, and the vicar of God."

"He is likewise, the divine monarch, and supreme emperor and KING OF KINGS."

"Hence the pope is crowned with a triple crown, as KING OF HEAVEN AND EARTH AND OF THE LOWER REGIONS."

"For thou art ANOTHER GOD ON EARTH." - History of the Councils, vol. X1V, p. 109.

"We define that the Holy Apostolic See (the Vatican) and the Roman Pontiff hold the primacy over the whole world." - A Decree of the Council of Trent, quoted in Phillipe Labbe and Gabriel Cossart, The Most Holy Councils, vol. 13, col. 1167.

"Take thou the tiara adorned with the triple crown, and know that thou art the Father of princes and of kings, and art the GOVERNOR OF THE WORLD." - Coronation Service of the Pontiffs.

During the Vatican council of 1870, on January 9, it was proclaimed: "The Pope is CHRIST in office, CHRIST in jurisdiction and power...WE BOW DOWN before thy voice, O Pius, as before the VOICE OF CHRIST, the God of truth; in clinging to thee, WE CLING TO CHRIST."

"Thus the priest, may, in a certain manner, be called the CREATOR OF HIS CREATOR, since by saying the words of consecration, HE CREATES, as it were, JESUS in the sacrament, by giving him a sacramental existence, and produces him as a VICTIM to be offered to the eternal Father. As in creating the world it was sufficient for God to have said, Let it be made, and it was created. He spake, and they were made, so it is sufficient for the priest to say, 'Hoc, est corpus meum,' and behold the bread is no longer bread, but the body of Jesus Christ. 'The power of the priest,' says St. Bernadine of Sienna, 'is the power of the DIVINE PERSON; for the transubstantiation of the bread requires AS MUCH POWER AS THE CREATION OF THE WORLD.'"

"Were the Redeemer to descend into a church, and sit in a confesional to administer the sacrament of penance, and a priest to sit in another confessional, Jesus would say over each penitent, "Ego te absolvo,' the priest would LIKEWISE say over each of his penitents, 'Ego, te absolvo,' and the penitents of each would EQUALLY BE ABSOLVED."

"With regard to the mystic body of Christ, that is, all the faithful, the priest has the power of the keys, or the power of delivering sinners from hell, of MAKING THEM WORTHY of Paradise, and of CHANGING THEM from the slaves of Satan into the children of God. AND GOD HIMSELF IS OBLIGED to abide by the judgment of his priests, and either to pardon or not to pardon, according as they refuse or give absolution, provided the penitent is capable of it." (Emphasis added)

Is that enough? I have many more.

"And he shall speak great words against the Most High..." Daniel 7:25.

Do you hear the voice of The Usurper? I do.

"And he shall speak great words against the Most High..."

HERALD,

Do you have anything ORIGINAL to say, or JUST quotes from Others?

Thanks, Roger R.

Actually, you guys have a lot in common. He quotes people excessively, you quote the Bible excessively.

Also, herald hasn't been around in quite a while. I basically demolished his fun apocalyptic theory on R-S.

FFT,

ACTUALLY, NO!

I SIMPLY state HOLY SCRIPTURE, GOD'S TRUTH!

HE, states Man's Opinion and comments!

REALLY, A Complete Study of REVELATION, has to inculde, ISAIAH, AND EZEKIEL, JEREMIAH and the rest of the Minor Prophets!

MANY will use SECULAR sources to try and interpet THE HOLY SCRIPUTRE!

YOU KNOW, puny mankind = TELLING GOD WHAT HE REALLY MEANT WHEN HE SAID HIS WORD! GOD SAIS IT BEST HERE. . .

(Isaiah 55:6-to-11) Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

(Isa 55:7) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

(Isa 55:8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

(Isa 55:9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

(Isa 55:10) For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

(Isa 55:11) So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Thanks, Roger R.

So, Roger, tell me, what's the difference in quoting people and quoting the Bible?
You have as much original to say when you quote the Bible as when someone else quote what a person has said.

FAKE,

Did you NOT READ, the previous POST?

1. GOD'S WORD IS TRUTH

2. People's Opinions can be either TRUTH -or- LIES!

PERHAPS if you will allow me to ILLUSTRATE?

WHEN FORMER PRESIDENT CLINTON, WENT ON THE TELEVISION AND SAID, "I did not have sex with that WOMAN!"

WAS THAT TRUTH = = -or- = = A LIE? ? ? IT WAS A LIE!

DID YOU BELIEVE HIM -or- NOT? ? ?

Thanks, Roger R.

Firstly, knock off the yelling, I hear you fine anyway.

Secondly, you don't post much original thoughts either, you quote what you claim to be God's word, wich is no better than someone quoting another person.

Both of you have as little original thoughts to bring to the table, so please get off your high horse for a while Roger.

Pride and selfglorifying isn't becoming of a man who claim to be in harmony with God's word.
