Just wanted to share something. Some background - My sister has a 5 year old son to an agnostic. No, they aren't married but since having their son, they have gone seperate ways. He is now married to someone else (a Christian) & sis (a Christian) is engaged to another Christian. During these past 5 years, we knew that my nephew, when w/his father, would not receive Christian instruction & that saddens me. However, when he is around our family, we take him to Sunday School & constantly talk about God. I find it a bit odd that my nephew's father married a Christian & yet his new wife has never once offered to take my nephew to her church. She goes, but she never takes my nephew along. I find that a bit odd. Yet, she tells us that every night she prays w/my nephew, which is a great thing.
For Easter, there was a bit of a riff b/c my nephew's stepmother wanted to take him w/her to her church. My nephew made it point clear (even at 5 years old) that he wanted to go to church w/Mommy. This made my nephew's dad very upset b/c his wife was very disappointed. However, we believe that my nephew made a "grown-up" discussion to be w/the church family that he DOES know. He enjoys our Sunday School & everyone loves him to death. After a lot of discussion between both parents, it was decided that he would be allowed his choice & go to church w/my sister & our family in the morning & then go w/his father in the afternoon for their family dinner.
I just wanted to share also that this child has chosen to follow Jesus already & he's only 5. He has proven that by his actions this past weekend. He loves his dad more than anything & really looks forward to going back to spend time w/him but this weekend was different. He made it very clear (in 5 year old terms) that he wanted to be w/his church family. My nephew also was playing one day & ran on top of a small hill & shouted, "Look Mommy, I can almost reach Jesus!" My sister's eyes filled up w/tears. Of all the things he could have said, he picks that to say. This tells me that he does pay attention in Sunday School, even though he likes those toys a whole heck of a lot! Praise the Lord! _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. Remember, God is STILL speaking. And surprisingly, through people we DON'T expect. |

So because your nephew has cute misconceptions about Jesus, you're happy? _________________ When Science was in its crib, Religion tried to strangle it. When Science was in its infancy, Religion tried to abuse it. Now that Science is grown up, Religion wants to be in its good graces.

FFT, this is the second post in a forum in which you have no reason to be posting.
I cannot forbid you from posting here, or in the Prayer Request forum, but I and many others would appreciate it if you exercise a little self-restraint and stay out of these areas specifically intended for those of the faith. _________________ JP's Mind - my blog

FFT, this forum is for Christian fellowship, that means it is for christians.
You don't believe in the Lord, so please leave those alone that do.
There are plenty of places on this board where you can post without posting here. OK? _________________ Much Love Nobby

Again, my bad. Didn't note what forum this was in. _________________ When Science was in its crib, Religion tried to strangle it. When Science was in its infancy, Religion tried to abuse it. Now that Science is grown up, Religion wants to be in its good graces.
