Do you guys think that blaspheming the Holy Spirit un-saves someone, or do you think there is a difference between not being forgiven and salvation in a broader sense?

I have struggled with the idea of being "un-saved" for some time. The "once-saved/always-saved" did not seem to hold up scripturally until I thought about it differently. My thoughts now are this: Someone that is truly saved will not commit this offense. We may sin in areas of our life but to deny Christ and the Holy Spirit would not be the actions of a truly saved person.

Saved: Preserved from evil; injury or destruction; kept frugally; prevented; spared; taken in time.

Salvation:The act of saving; preservation from destruction, danger or great calamity. Appropriately in theology, the redemption of man from the bondage of sin and liability to eternal death, and the conferring on him everlasting happiness. This is the great salvation.

By these definitions, I don't see much difference between the two, other than tense.

It is intreresting that we all take different angles on these things while staying within the pale of orthodoxy of the Christian doctrine. God is truly wonderful!

Yours in Christ with much love,
Ron

I seem to go back and forth on the issue of whether once we're saved we are always saved or not.

Also, what i was asking for in my previous post was the difference (if any) between being "unforgiven" for something and being "saved", it seems that you defined "saved" and "salvation".

Anyway, the idea is, can you be saved, yet still get less reward in Heaven due to "unforgiven" sin or trespass?

I guess I believe that Scripture tells us of only one "unpardonable" sin, that of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. As I stated earlier, I believe this is a condition of continually denying Christ and the state you are in at your physical death. There is no second chance to change once we have physically died, therefor you would be "unforgiven". You would not have the salvation of Christ in this state, as I understand it.

With regard to "treasures in heaven" I believe these are treasures in more of a symbolic sense than physical. I think it is language written for the level of understanding by men. Perhaps the more "good" you do the more joy you will have, or something like that. Its a tuffie to explain, isn't it!!

Yours in Christ with much love,
Ron

Thank you. That's what i was trying to get at. I'm interested in how other christians take these ideas because i think it is important to have many counselors. And I will look to God to reveal to me what His truth is while i am listening to my brothers and sisters in Christ.

God bless you in Christ.
