I think in principle that sounds like a wonderful idea. Certainly reconciling churches and gay-friendly churches like MCC Congregations do that with people involved in the tearoom trade, crystal meth, and patronizing hustlers and the like.
But to do that to a committed same gender couple is merely an act of legalism and bigotry. A church that does that has spat in the face of Christ to have done so. _________________ "Count it all joy, my brethren, when you meet various trials." (James 1:2)

Okay, JP it is then.

Hey, I resent that!!! I'm sure someone finds them attractive & fit to be married to them!
In all seriousness, I understand what you're saying about people being born w/some kind of disability & some things that they're not capable of doing is replaced by something else. God replaces that thing that's taken away w/something else. Got it.
| Quote: | In my experience most 8-9 year olds don't come to anyone and talk about that kind of stuff, and I would tell them the same things I would tell the kid who comes to me and says he really like Judy, or Jane - Keep your hands off

Okay, maybe you're right. Most 8-9 year olds don't do that. Let's try 12-13. The age when they get "crushes" on others. When I was young, I had my first "boyfriend" when I was 13. I had known this boy & his family since I was 9. We hold hands, we kiss. Nothing else. Is this normal? I'd say yes, for most 13 year olds, unless you have the strict father that wants his little girl not to date until she's 16 or older, then that could be a problem. But I think the feelings about the opposite sex at that age are normal.
My sister -- 13 years old -- still no crushes on boys. Only likes boys as friends. Has no interest in pursuing relationships w/boys. Secretly has a crush on a "girl" but "knows" it's against what God has called her for so she confesses to God & asks her to overcome it. 16 years old -- normal age for girls to start dating. Still does not have crushes on boys. Is content w/o a boyfriend. Recognizes that she still likes girls & keeps confessing to God that this isn't "normal". Is very confused. She lives her life single until a friend introduces her to another friend. They become friends. The more time they talk & become close, the more they start to become attracted to each other. She is 26 by the time she has her first sexual encounter w/anyone. I, on the other hand, had my first sexual encounter at age 17 & married my boyfriend 2 years later. We've been married ever since. She is now living w/this partner for 4 years now & really is the one person I turn to when I don't feel God in my life at the present time. She walks me through, talks me through, keeps my eyes focused on Jesus when I want to look at the circumstances surrounding me instead of what Jesus can do for me.
To me, she's a better Christian than I can ever be. She knows who's center of her life -- Jesus Christ. He's the reason she lives, the reason she has so many blessings in her life & He sustains her in her times of trouble. _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. Also JP, could you look at my other thread on Leviticus? I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks. THat goes for anyone else for that matter. _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. Remember, God is STILL speaking. There is a song out now days called "God Sized Hole" Basically it says there is a God sized hole in everyone's heart...
It is not that something needs to be taken away, it is more to the point that we all have a hole in our soul that only God can fill. When that hole is filled no other consideration matters. What dooms mankind is the continual effort to fill that hole with things of this world: Money, relationships, vices, etc. _________________ JP's Mind - my blog

I think you misunderstood me. I probably didn't explain myself too well. I meant like a blind person loses his sight, but maybe his sense of smell is heightened, that type of thing. _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. No ma'am, I believe I understood you perfectly. I simply pointed out that it matters not if one has or has not something, or if one has had something 'taken away'. We all have that hole in us that only God can fill and so many of us try to fill it in ways other than Him. _________________ JP's Mind - my blog

This is true. Can't argue w/that. _________________ Don't get caught in the trap of thinking you know everything God has to say b/c you've read the Bible. Remember, God is STILL speaking. And surprisingly, through people we DON'T expect. |
