The question is... does God reward his disobedient children?
So I went looking for God's discipline and I found only 1 verse
Jb:36:10: He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
Jb:36:11: If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
Jb:36:12: But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
So I find that God's punishment that don't obey are perishing by the sword and dying without knowledge.
Let's take one at a time...
perish by the sword:
Dt:28:22: The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
Jb:33:18: He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
Jb:33:22: Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
what is the sword?
Gn:3:24: So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Gn:27:40: And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
Lv:26:7: And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
Nm:22:23: And the ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.
Dt:32:42: I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
Dt:33:29: Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.
Jgs:7:18: When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon.
ever hear of Gideon's bible?
1Sm:13:22: So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.
What is this sword?
Jb:5:15: But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
Jb:5:20: In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
Jb:19:29: Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
Jb:27:13: This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
Jb:27:14: If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
Ps:37:14: The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
Ps:37:15: Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
Ps:44:6: For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
Ps:55:21: The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
Ps:57:4: My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
Prv:25:18: A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
Is:49:2: And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
Is:66:16: For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.
Jer:6:25: Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.
Jer:11:22: Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:
Jer:47:6: O thou sword of the Lord, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
Sword of the Lord...
Lk:2:35: (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
Lk:22:52: Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
Lk:22:53: When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
Eph:6:17: And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Heb:4:12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Rv:2:12: And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
(twoedged sword reminds me of Star's insights about double-mindedness.
does this mean the He took the sword away from the enemy?
maybe has something to do with the false prophet. )
Rv:2:16: Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Rv:6:4: And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
Rv:6:8: And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
Rv:19:21: And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
So this is how I'm understanding it...
The sword of the Lord is the word of truth,
The sword of the enemies are the words of lies.
Those that die by famine and hunger are those that never hear the truth, only lies.
I believe the wars we read of in the old testament are wars between the words of truth and lies.
Israel (God's sword, word of truth) and the world around them (Satans sword, words of deception and lies).
Jb:5:15: But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
Mt:5:3: Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
then we have dying without knowledge, trials by fire, and destruction.
Time for lunch...
I would welcome any comments on this.

Great post, lots of things concerning the Sword and our "little swords" lol
Did you ever notice in this verse you posted this
Rv:2:16: Repent; or else I will COME UNTO THEE quickly, and will FIGHT AGAINST THEM with the sword of my mouth.
Come unto thee? to fight against THEM?? Thats kool!
Heres another... You put down..
Rv:6:4: And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
Remember Paul speaking concerning this? He does not bear the Sword for nothing? Its a verse somewhere acknowleding this verse it seems (not sure I have to go back) But its for our good not evil.
Double edged Sword? Cuts both ways? The dividing of Soul and Spirit... Double minded? (not sure on that) "Martha Martha" "Saul Saul" thingy... To adress both? His Sword is bathed in Blood (ours?) Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God? Losing Life=Blood to Gain His Life=Blood gains life in this way? A Sword shall peirce your Soul (ones life where the Sword of the Spirit peirces through?) Makes Entry?
The Word of God witheld (as the rain) would be as a drought and a famine (a good thing) Blessed are those who thirst? who hunger?
Though the "letter of the word" KILLS (I Kill and make ALIVE I the Lord do this) The Spirit gives life. Both accomplish HIS purpose.
If you live by the sword you will die by the sword? If you judge you shall be judged, if you condemn you shall be condemned, in refraining and chosing to purify your hearts in obedience to the Truth (Christ) You will be blessed in what you do paying close attention to yourself and your doctrine... Its kinda like learning to use the sword for good (tongue?) showing mercy bring words of health and healing, the tree of life and the fruit of ones lips the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving.
Whatever we love in words be it life or death will become to our own undoing, perhaps giving an account (here) of every idle word and recieving in ourselves the good or bad that we might grow thereby, to find the path through trial and error and the Lord can through Judgement teach us righteousness through measure.
This is a great post Lone... makes you bring it home and think about it.
In Him
