I'm not the one to judge which sin is greater.
Tell me one thing. Didn;t they still want to rape the MEN! Why didn't they take up Lot's offer to have his daughters? Hmmmmmm.
Even Rev didn't respond to that one.

Sorry, I didn't respond to your question, although I'm not sure how you would want me to answer. Does scripture tell us why they did not take Lot's offer on his daughters? If scritpure tells us then I can answer your question, even though you would not be asking it. If scripture does not tell us then I cannot guess at someone's reasons from 9000 years ago. _________________ JP's Mind - my blog

I read the passage again. They don't really seem to give a reason other than that it was what they wanted.
Genesis 19:5-9 (KJV)
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. 6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. 8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. 9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. |

My personal belief is that in that day and time a way of humiliating another male was to 'sodomize' him. It was of no use, in my opinion, for them to do this to the daughters since females were already seen in such a low view back then. After all, Lot offered his daughers. What father would do that today? And if the men in the crowd were homosexual, as is asserted by some, then for Lot to offer women to them makes no sense. IF the males were indeed homosexual. Which, by the way, SCRIPTURE DOES NOT SAY IF THEY WERE HOMOSEXUAL. |

I agree. It still is where it is practiced in all-male environments like prison, the military, isolated work groups like cowboys, miners, etc. It is about dominance, not sex. Humiliation is still a prime goal of male-to-male rape. See Pulp Fiction if you don't believe it.
It certainly is as relevant to modern LGBT culture as if we were to say to all heterosexual males "You are just like Ted Bundy". _________________ "Count it all joy, my brethren, when you meet various trials." (James 1:2)

| No to homo marriage. The dictionary definition of marriage is between a man and a woman, not a man and another "man". |

From an upto date Online Dictionary:
Key (mrj)
n.
#1 The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife.
The state of being married; wedlock.
#2 A common-law marriage.
#3 A union between two persons having the customary but usually not the legal force of marriage: a same-sex marriage.

If everyone turned homosexuals &/or to same-sex marriage ...
Not only would it be disobeying God (see below quote), but
humans could NOT reproduce & so eventually the human race would become EXTINCT!
| Quote: | (Genesis BBE online version)
1:27 And God made man in his image, in the image of God he made him: male and female he made them. 1:28 And God gave them his blessing and said to them, Be fertile and have increase, and make the earth full and be masters of it; be rulers over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing moving on the earth. |
Then if this carried over to all the animals, later the earth would be void of ALL life.
Is this your aim? |

I suppose the ultimate question here is:
What does God say...
What is it?
Why is it?
What does it show us.
There's more than meets the eye, for sure.. _________________ Joh 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Debatable.

Interesting slippery slope fallacy you've got there. Just because I support the marriage of homosexuals doesn't mean I'm going to become one, and doesn't mean that everyone else is going to become one either.
| lowers wrote: | | Then if this carried over to all the animals, later the earth would be void of ALL life. |
Because homosexual bacteria can't reproduce.

TO: FFT (RESPONSE)
There is power behind me & the word of God that you cannot see yet.
Even ignoring the Bible there is a DEFINITE problem with same gender sex ATLEAST long-term.

Okay. But someone would have to take the following into account to keep it from happening.
1) The number of obvious (if not all) homosexuals has gone up since the government has given them certain privilages & okayed them in certain ways.
2) Some people are leaders, but numerous others follow whatever bandwagon they see (Including some who call themselves Christians ).
3) Who is going to investigate what percentage of each nationality of the human race CANNOT be/become homosexuals, taking into account accidents, diseases, & catastrifies in a long-term range to prevent the human race or even any nationalities from becoming EXTINCT
THIS IS JUST FROM THE PRACTICLE SIDE.
If you were trying to shoot down what I said/posted, I think you forgot the ammo. It didn't work. |

NOW FOR THE BIBLICAL SIDE/REASONS
1) God created man & woman
NOT 2 men nor 2 women.
2) Sodom and Gomorrah
From Gen.ch.19
v.4 Before Lot and his guests (the 2 angels) had gone to bed, all of the men came from every part of the city of Sodom. Young and old men alike surrounded the house.
v.5 They called out to Lot. They said, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us. We want to have sex with them."
v.6 Lot went outside to meet them. He shut the door behind him.
v.7 He said, "No, my friends. Don't do such an evil thing.
v.8 Look, I have two daughters. No man has ever made love to them. I'll bring them out to you now. Then do to them what you want to. But don't do anything to these men. I've brought them inside so they can be safe."
...
v.24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
v.25 He overthrew, destroyed, and ended those cities, and all the valley and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.
26 FootNotes: Lot's wife not only "looked back" to where her heart's interests were, but she lingered behind; and probably overtaken by the fire and brimstone, her dead body became incrusted with salt, which, in that salt-packed area now the Dead Sea, grew larger with more incrustations--a veritable "pillar of salt." In fact, at the southern end of the Dead Sea there is a mountain of table salt called Jebel Usdum, "Mount of Sodom." It is about six miles long, three miles wide, and 1,000 feet high. It is covered with a crust of earth several feet thick, but the rest of the mountain is said to be solid salt (George T. B. Davis, Rebuilding Palestine According to Prophecy). Somewhere in this area Lot's wife looked back to where her treasures and her heart were, and "she became a pillar of salt." Jesus said, "Remember Lot's wife" (Luke 17:32).
If you STILL do not believe homosexuality is wrong & dangerous,
then I'd have to agree with the quote at bottom of all postings ...

how does the bible define marriage?
and why does God find homosexuality abominable?
Has something to do with marriage I think?
I just thought of something, don't know if it's scriptural, i have to check, but:
God made man in His image, male and female
So is each person within himself male/female and the combining of the two outward genders make a whole?
Paul says there is neither male nor female in heaven what does this mean?
