JP, I printed out the study you shared above. Very powerful. Thank you, so, so very much. It sounds like Bridget is experiencing what you recommended. I think that is wonderful, too. Yes, all have sinned (past tense), but all must not continue in sin (present tense). Your study makes that wonderfully clear.
Bridget, I very much appreciated your testimony. I have, from time to time, been able to relate to it. That is, I have gone for periods of time, short though they may have been, where I rejoiced in victory over the temptations that tend to so easily find me. The feeling is thrilling. I want it more and more, I mean, I want Jesus more and more.
The promises of perfection I'm referring are posted at the very beginning of this thread, on page one. Read through them, and then tell me what you think. From what you've posted above, it sounds like you are allowing Jesus to fulfill His promises in and through you, on a regular basis. I find that extremely encouraging. God bless and keep you. Thank you for sharing. |

I read through the first page and I still can't find where the Bible promises perfection. If you read the OT God knows more about us then we know ourselves. He above all knows we cannot be perfect. The sins of our fathers have been passed down for generations and only with the death of Jesus on the Cross were those sins forgiven. `I have tried to witness to you about how God gave me the gift of His joy and peace, I call this being born again, because this truly changed me. I became a new person.
This then is what you should be striving for because obtaining 'perfection' as cannot be done on your own. |

Bridget, if the following promises do not mean what they say, then what do they mean, in your opinion?
Galatians 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
2 Peter 1:10, 11
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
1 John:3:6-10
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. |

| My friend Climbing Higher, I think these verses speak for themselves. Yes they give you promises, but what they are saying is you must walk in the spirit. Do you walk in the spirit? You are asking for help in living a perfect life. You cannot do it on your own, you must walk in the spirit. You must receive the Holy Spirit. I can't tell you how to do this, I only know what happened to me. |

Midge, when you posted this line I thought you meant none of the promises on page one promised perfection. But now I see you mean IF we abide in Jesus, IF we walk in the Spirit, then it is possible to experience perfection, otherwise it is not. Thanx for clarifying. |
