Curious about your thoughts

I forgot to put the verse in (see I'm trying) Wink

Romans 10:20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

In context, he seems to be referring to the Gentiles. Jesus was made manifest to them by the natural law of God, rather than by any knowledge of God, so that they recognized him by their spirits when Israel didn't. I think you can compare it to us today when our spirit seeks some deeper meaning to life and can recognize Jesus' Spirit when we meet it. It speaks to us. Very Happy

Isaiah wrote:
"I permitted Myself to be sought by those who did not ask [for Me]; I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me. I said, "Here I Am, here am I," to a nation which did not call on my name. I have spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, who walk in the way which is not good, following their own thoughts,"-Isaiah 65:1-2 NASB

God chose Abraham and stretched out his hands to Abraham's decendents, including as Paul points out in Romans 10:20, God using the Gentiles to make the nation of Israel jealous (Rom. 10:19) in a continuing effort (all day long) to reach a disobedient and obstinate people.

You both are good here. And for the first time I even agree with Van. Shocked

All day long He has held out his arms to an unwilling obstinant people under the law. To gather them from Death to give them life from the dead and pull them out of the dark pit into which they fell. The House of the Dead which was a way that seemed right to a man but in the end was Death and her guests are dead. Who prefered bitterness of soul to the sweetness of salvation. The fragrance of death to the fragrance of life. A prison with Gates Wink that should not prevail against us who have faith.

Amen I agree

Hello Star!

If I may, I should like to paraphrase a portion of the greeting written by Paul, to the Romans. I think it helps bring Romans 10:20 into perspective........

And now, through Christ, all the kindness of God has been poured out upon us undeserving sinners; and now he is sending us out around the world to tell all people everywhere the great things God has done for them, so that they, too, will believe and obey him.
