Quote Of The Day
"The NAACP is greatly disappointed that President George Bush and others have decided to enter this election cycle by endorsing an amendment that would forever write discrimination into the U.S. Constitution, rather than focusing on the crucial problems and challenges that affect the lives of all of us."
NAACP Director Hilary Shelton testifying before Senate subcommittee on the constitution. |

I wonder if Bush has ever studied history - particularly the last time 'morality' engendered a Constitutional amendment?

Doesn't Bush use his religion in his wishes to deny homosexual couples the same legal protection as is granted to heterosexual couples that can marry?

Romans 13:1-2: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers; for there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God.
"Whosoevereth resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resisteth shall receive to themselves damnation."
***
Often people are disengenuous in either advocating compliance or rebellion against the state: they state for their side to do it is okay, but for the other side to do it is not.
But let's not forget:
Amos 5:24: "But let judgement run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream."
The NAACP is right: it is wrong to amend the Constitution in order to harm one particular group, and that is exactly what this ill-advised amendment would do. |
