I don't want to sidetrack your study bitterlily..
very good..keep going with it ok?
so I will ask questions here so not to disturb it..k?
And I say also unto you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of the GRAVE shall not prevail against it. Mat 16:18
Peter is a Man. Peter in the beginning saw the light.
he believed. he questioned a lot. even at one point he was decieved. until he denied.
But in time his faith came back again and he stood for the truth and the light.
Peter..the Lord called a Rock. And upon that Rock Christ would build his church.
It would see, it would believe, it would begin to question, it would even be decieved, until the very Rock in which the church was built would deny the one who made the Rock a Rock itself.
But in the end faith revives..truth and light return.
Is this a prophecy..or the truth of life and death itself?
and the gates of the grave...
what are the "gates" of the grave?
whatever they are shall not prevail against the Rock.
even though the Rock be moved..it will not be destroyed.
even though the Rock is broken and shattered into many pieces..the gates of the grave shall not prevail.
even though the Rock is thrashed down to the size of dust under our feet..
the gates of the grave shall not prevail..
Jesus says..from these stones I am able to raise up children of Abraham...
these dust, these pebbles, these stones, are all built up again and assembled back and made as one whole Rock as it was in the beginning.
Peter means Father? in some ways I've heard that..
padre, papa..
If Peter represents the Father, the Rock in which the whole world finds it's foundation in..
Then the "gates" of the grave shall never prevail against the Father...
what are the gates bitterlily?
awesome study you have going there..
hugs

Was Jesus saying here that Peter is the foundation upon which the Messiah built his church or that the confession of Peter (v. 16) is the foundation upon which the church is built? _________________ "All wish to possess knowledge, but few, comparatively speaking, are willing to pay the price." - Juvenal |
