Please pray for a gentleman who just found out he tested positive for HIV. He cried in the doctor's office. Thanks.

Nobby,

Semi-young. He's in his 40's. He led a life of prostitution & drug addiction. It is very sad.

Evee, 40's is pretty young & yes it is sad. My dad was only 49 when he died. Sad He was a alcoholic & had diabetes bad! The two didn't go together at all. I had to work & had to put in a nursing home for a while.
I got a call at work telling me he had passed a way! Sad Sad

My father was 49 too Nobby when he passed away. He had a massive heart attack at work & the docs couldn't save him. Sad I miss him terribly to this day.

Evee, allow me to suggest that you encourage this man to get some counseling. This is not an easy thing to deal with believe me.

You may want to reiterate what the doctor has probably already said to him - this diagnosis is not a death sentence like it was 20 years ago. Mental, physical, and emotional health are key to surviving many more years even with this disease.

PM me if you want to talk some more.

Rev is right. It's no longer the automatic death sentence that it was in the '80's.

I will pray for him and pray that he looks after the health and well-being of others and does not pass this awful disease on to anyone else.

My cousin died from aids several years ago. Very sad.

I hope he is OK and takes good care of himself.

Luv

I, too, shall pray for him. May somehow God give him peace and comfort and healing. God bless.

Thanks JP. I just might if I see him not taking care of himself or maybe need to discuss something that is more private. It's awful watching someone you care about get a diagnosis like that. His spirits are up usually but he is worried.

Thanks for saying that it's not a death sentence. That's exactly what the eye doctor told him. She said they've made great strides in HIV treatment. She did say, which I didn't know until now, that he needs routine eye exams b/c his eyes will be affected easily. Why is that I wonder? Boy, I'll have to look that up.

He's set up w/counseling at his PCP's office. He starts that next week.

He did pass it to someone. The doctor thinks he contracted it recently since his count is high. If so, he's been w/someone since March of this year, so more than likely he gave this to that person. He hasn't been w/anyone since the diagnosis last week though, which is good. He claims he's going to stay abstinent. I hope so.
