I asked for misery from God
Kunti ( a female devotee) asked the Lord for difficulties so that her devotion to God improves more and more. She was the first soul to recognize the difficulties as the real preachers of devotion to God. The second soul was myself who asked God for creating problems. You know I did long prayers to Lord Jesus to grant difficulties so that the divine knowledge and devotion improve more. God was astonished in these two cases since no soul requested God for difficulties so far after the creation! As a soul, my devotion to God improved tremendously during the difficulties.

Xlnt!

Love for difficulties proves you can handle difficulties and problems with no additional problem, nor problem attitude nor attitude problem, and make those problems in to solutions!

Watching The Wheels
by
Lennon John

People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin
When I say that I'm o.k. well they look at me kind of strange
Surely you're not happy now you no longer play the game

People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go

Ah, people asking questions lost in confusion
Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if Ive lost my mind
I tell them theres no hurry
I'm just sitting here doing time

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go

in the Solution of Love that sees that there are as many solutions in problems as problems in solutions,

Well that only goes to show you, God answers prayer.
She asked for misery, so God gave it to her.
I asked for answers, and God gives me a life of joy.

Since scripture states that God will give us the desires of our hearts, why in the hell would any sane person pray for misery - like the world doesn't provide enough of that already? #Crazy

it's like praying for patience Laughing no way! God has granted me plenty, thank goodness Wink

Makes me think of several scriptures...

being thankful for trials bc they produce endurance and God disciplines those he loves! Very Happy

Romans 5:3
James 1:2-3
Prov. 3:11-12

The list goes on... there are 5 verses alone in Prov. 15 concerning discipline!

It's one thing to be grateful for trials, it's quite another thing to pray for trials and misery. I just don't understand why people would deliberately pray for suffering. Is that supposed to make them holy or something?? Just asking.

Well, I don't claim to know all the answers, but this is the one that makes the most sense to me--

Scripture says that God will give us the desires of our hearts. I truly believe that God is so desperate to have a personal relationship with us, that He will communicate with us in whatever way we desire.

Therefore, if a person prays for visions, they will receive visions. If they hear God in music, God will make His presence known there. If people pray for misery in order to connect with Him, so be it.
But misery and suffering is NOT what God wants for us.
Hence the saying, watch what you pray for, you just might get it.

Question to you all. Why is it when a Christian talks about suffering for the Lord, that somehow seems right and holy, but if a Christian becomes successful, rich and prosperous, that is somehow wrong? Can somebody tell me that?

interesting post...I agree God communicates to us in a way we can relate to Him also.

as for your question... just my opinion, but I think some Christians feel they need to suffer bc it will bring them closer to God. Scripture says to be thankful for your trials, that you will grow and endure from them. And I think , really, the core reason to christians who feel that being successful is wrong is nothing more than jelousy. All throughout scripture we see how God wants us to be successful! Joseph prospered in Egypt ( Gen. 39)...The Lord gives success ( Deut. 28:3-6) the key to success is in proverbs 16......and the list goes on and on. So you see , God actually wants us to be successful..Scripture tells us to "commit our actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed." Prov.16:3

The problem that occurs is when people focus on the success and NOT on the one who gave it to them, which is of course GOD. This is where greed comes in...taking over ones mind and people desire more "greed".

So...with that said. I think many Christians just choose to stay away from big fortunes for fear that greed might kick in? Just my opinion...but it makes sense to me anyhow.

Oh! OK then! I think I've figured out a way to kill two birds with one stone.

Dear God,
Since many old school Christians believe it is our purpose to suffer for you while we are on this rock, bless me......err ........curse me with a couple of million dollars please. And in the unlikely case I get greedy with it instead of using to promote the Kingdom as you teach, take it away from me again. That way I will learn
A) how to suffer
B) how to avoid greed
OR
C) how to live life the way Jesus intended.

Lay it on me God, I studied for this one!!! Razz
