In the new testament Jesus said in (Matthew 4:17-...repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand) and in (Matthew 4:19, And He saith unto them, Follow me and I will make you fishers of men)also many other things He saith or commanded such as ...let your light shine
...love your enemies
...lay up for yourselves
treasure in heaven..
...seek ye first
...judge not...
...seek and ............
...fear not...
...render therefore...
49? commands in all, then He added in (John 14:21-He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me:and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Jesus said in (Matthew 28:20- Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen)
This ALSO applies to the Old Testament commandments.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
That includes EVERYTHING, in the whole Bible.

SS, It appears that you do not understand that the new testament commands (commandments) do not void the OT commands, but take them a step further in that they not only govern our outward actions, but also the thoughts and intents of the heart by the power of the Holy Spirit.

[/quote] I agree completely !!!

I can then ask......How can the modern day NT Christian make even MORE powerful what the OT Godly statement says here ?

Ezekiel 20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I [am] the LORD that sanctify them.

20:19 I [am] the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;

20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I [am] the LORD your God.

How can the modern day NT Christian make even MORE powerful what the OT Godly statement says there ?

Keep in mind that our actions will be 'the thing', in the Day of God's Judgment.

The Two Commandments that Jesus Gave us
(Love God with all your Heart,Mind, and Strength, And Love your Neighbor) sum up the 10 Commandments. Think about it,

The first 4 Are for God.
You shall have no other gods before me
You shall not make for yourself an idol
You shall not take the name of the Lord in vain
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy

The last 6 are for Others
You shall not murder
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal
You shall not bear false witness
You shall not covet

And there you have it....God's Law, based on the principle of Love !

Remember, that God's Law is for our benefit, not God's.

AND, God's Law is part of the Gospel message.

Note the 5th commandment is on the God half of the ten. To dishonor your mother and father is a serious transgression! And in the 1st Century it was entirely profaned by many of the Levi's, Pharisees and Torah Teachers and replaced with tradition..

Read Matthew 5.

The consequences of replacing God's commands with man's traditions are severe (see: diaspora), and should be a reminder and a lesson to all of us as we apply God's Word to our daily lives and traditions.

Fast 2 days,( if you can get permission from your doctor) and then read to whom specifically is being addressed, and why.

Matthew 6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:17
But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
Matthew 6:18
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
Matthew 9:14
Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
Matthew 9:15
And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.[/b

Is fasting a command from God? Remember when they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, did the manna from heaven rain down 7 days a week?

This is where you[b] completely
miss the boat. I do not want you to be sorely dissapointed on the day of judgement. Our actions??? the thing???? as in exclusively????? please tell me I am misunderstanding what you are saying!!!! Shocked

Where in the bible does it even give the slightest hint of this???????
