Does any one out there think that Hillary will become governor of the empire state? Certain pundits have suggested that she might 'accept' it if she doesn't get the presidential nomination. The new governor of NY who took over after Spitzer has already confessed to having multiple extra marital affairs and speculation is that he might not fill out the term.

Of course other people have suggested that she might divorce Bill if she didn't win either.

It seems that some of the other senior democratic leaders have been floating ideas for Clinton that might assuage her desire for the power of the presidency. There is still the move to offer her the VP position, like the OP I wrote at one time the idea of being the governor of NY was thrown out and lately another one is as the Senate majority leader. Yes, Harry Reid's position.

The idea of having a VP who is really aggressively different than the president is as new/old as the Kennedy/Johnson presidency. Senator Johnson was an individual who many other elected people owed favors to. He had planned for many years his ascendancy to the presidency and the primary campaign was just as acrimonious as the current one. Kennedy was accused of not being electable just like Obama is today. Johnson ran a "Stop Kennedy campaign" not unlike Hillary is running at this moment. Johnson's main segment of political support was from the old line democrats in the south who were securely in Johnson's pocket. Without this segment of political support they would not have been elected.

What happened remarkably was that Johnson was pushed into betraying his southern democratic electoral support through the racial equality movement that as VP he was sent to work on by Kennedy. A political support that the republicans took for themselves later on.

Obama and Hillary might just make a good team regardless of their animosity. Certainly their combined strengths would make them stronger electorally. Its hard to see far enough in the future just how it work out but the implied insult of offering someone like Hillary as VP is not as bad as some people might think it is.

I think being a Senator is more "prestigious" than being Governor, even of a big state like New York.

If she does lose the nomination (which is likely) she'd be the first Dem in a long, long time to mount a successful "second run"..I think Grover Cleveland is the only Dem to do so...1892.

Well.. she definitely is acquainted with affairs... seems she just might fit right in... Confused or disgusted

Seriously though… no way… being governor is like second place…no one cares. She would actually by lobbying for something akin to Supreme Court Justice… some place where she can really do some damage.

The media pundits have been throwing out several scenarios for positions that might just get her out of the race, ways of mollifying her after she loses. None of them are things that she has offered as acceptable that I know of.

I just don't understand how she explains to any "new money" how she expects to win the nomination. She has already spent far more than her contributions have allowed her, (by loaning the campaign money out of her own funds). While it shows a full commitment to her cause it also shows she just doesn't have the support she needs.

The Old Washington is based upon a few good friends with money and her friends have in fact ponied up as much as they possibly can. Remarkably Obama has many millions more to go before his funds are tapped out since his average contribution has been nearly $100 not the $2500 which is the limit.

Seems that Edwards has now endorsed Obama, perhaps a bid for the VP spot in the trail of a failed nomination campaign?

My guess is that Edwards would make a fine Attorney General. One who has lots of experience dealing with corporate greed and malfeasance. A defender of the helpless rather than some clone that Bush has had.
