45,
My bet is that John McCain will ask Joe Lieberman to be his running mate. They seem to be quite close these days. And it might pull some of that swing vote. Just a thought.

I have noticed this with Lieberman and McCain but how would the conservative core hang onto him in the general election with a 'sorta' democrat Lieberman is a changeling and not the sort who gets much attention for VP. Normally the VP is a party regular who is primarily loyal to the Pres.

Maybe... we'll see wont we.

45,
Who do you think would be the best bet for VP?

Ever since Lieberman went independent, he seems to have moved to the right just a little more. His posture on the war is just one of several examples. It will definitely be a hurdle for him if this is the case, but stranger things have happened in Washington.

If I were to speculate as to a VP candidate for McCain since I neither respect his political views nor expect him to be anything but another Arizona senator who get wholloped in an election. (remember Goldwater) But since you ask I would suggest maybe Romney. He would give the platform an economic leg to stand on and fits the conservative mold much better making the republican core a bit more satisfied.

Otherwise it would have to be someone outside of the media radar at the moment.
