Thank you. It's how I feel sometimes but I wish he was walking very slowly rather than running. Running is no good for you. I LOVE LT's avatar.

If God did not want us to decorate our selves he would say so. and guess what. He says so.
I think People should start listening to the Bible as it is, and stop digging up excuses, which is not scriptural.

The only jewelry I usually wear is my wedding ring, mother ring and a necklace my husband had specially made for me.

I also wear a watch that my stepdaughter bought for me and sometimes a ring that my 9 year old bought with her own hard-earned money.

Men in the bible wore necklaces and other gold jewelry.

I don't think it means 'don't wear any jewelry' or 'don't braid your hair.' I think it means 'don't be vain' and 'don't spend obscene amounts of money or time on your outward appearance.'

019: The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers....,
But still u see people wearing earings.

Let's examine it a bit shall we.....
In Isa 3:14 we find this statement: "The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people".

Why? because.vs 14 latter part...

"for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses"

Furthermore we see vs 15....

"What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts".

And if that wasn't bad enough we have....

"Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet": ....

These people were not serving God and their neighbours...they were looking out for themselves and oppressing the poor, which is something God hates. Furthermore the young women were a bunch of haughty, prideful cows who looked down the noses at others... You see the pride here, sort of not wanting your delicate, perfect feet to touch the ground, it was an attitude of pride and vanity, an "abomination" to God, remember He hates a prideful, boastful, haughty attitude and this is exactly what He was getting from these people who were supposed to be His people.
Now, as a result of this, or, because of this horrid attitude, God took a course of action, it was....

" Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts". AND.."away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, AnD... The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers...etc.

This was His punishment, or chastening to them for this attitude, not a command that states to wear jewlry is wrong... We are to watch our attitude toward God and fellow man, to esteem others better than ourselves, to be our neighbour's keeper. To love God and neighbour.
There is nothing wrong with owning nor wearing jewelry in moderation. When we esteem these things above God...(Ohh I have 40 rings and 20 chains and precious jewels and I polish them every day and put them in a glass case on the mantle for everyone to see how important I am...etc ) then we have problems, this is idolatry.

Paul's admonition is also not that wearing jewelry is wrong, but rather that adornment should be one of humilty and love, our focus should be on inward adornment...why? because, If I could have all the jewels, best clothes and shoes, be very beautiful bodily and facially, and even have lots of money and have absolutely no character, no manners, be boistrous and loud, and always be willing to fight and cuss, would I be considered beautiful? You see, I'd rather live on the rooftops that in a house with a brawling woman. Prov 11:22- "As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion".

Pato;

I appreciated your post. It was very good.

I think you touched upon an important point. If you have a lot of expensive jewelry while your neighbor who is poor is going hungry, that's self-serving.

This thought extends to other extravagances or expensive apparel like shoes, dresses, suits and other expensive things purchased to impress others.
