I pay I think $60. or $70 for the service.

You're getting ripped off. I pay about $45 per month, and that includes both my DSL and my phone line.

It's not just slow downloading, but all the time I get this "error" message and I haveto shut down the internet. I'm thinking it's msn explorer..but what happens if I get rid of that? will my whole internet crash?

do I need msn explorer to be online?

Do you mean MSN Messenger? There's Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger. You don't need MSN Messenger, but you probably use Internet Explorer as your web browser, so you probably need that.

hi P123,
I meant internet explorer..i don't have messenger.
internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. Then it asks if I want to send the message or not. sometimes I do and it says something about an upgrade not being available..
whatever..it's just frustrating sometimes.
You know all those yellow lights on the board when someone posts? well when I get closed down and have to log back on, I don't see them anymore. So if anyone ever asks me a question...and it appears as if I'm ignoring you..I'm not. I've probably just forgot where all those yellow lights were.. Rolling Eyes

thanks P123 for your help..maybe I should have named this thread..
HELP with my internet..lol..

hugs

Yeah, and when it closes itself down, it will offer to restore your session when you open it up again.

RevJP is right. You should install Firefox; it really is much better.

Thunderbird is also a much better e-mail program than Outlook Express.

In fact, there's A LOT of really good free software out there. We should start a thread where we can share tips.

Here are some quick tips:

Really good free graphics program: Paint.net

Really good free data encryption program: TrueCrypt

Good free DVD-ripping program: XMPEG

Really cool free program which is just interesting to play around with: Google Earth (& sky)
