1 Thess.
5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Why do men/women put off thoughts of God's 'Investigative' Judgment Day ?

Jhn 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.

Rev 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed [is] he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

What exactly does the Lord come to steal, kill, and destroy?
Apparently it only happens to those who walk in darkness and not in the light..
So does the Lord come to steal, kill, and destroy the darkness that they walk in and to bring them into the light?

The day of the Lord is a day of judgment..but those who walk in the dark..judgment is far from them. It's only when one walks into the light or sees the light that their deeds are now seen and they stand in judgment for them.

Isa 59:1 ¶ Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear.
Isa 59:3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
Isa 59:4 None calleth for justice, nor [any] pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
Isa 59:5 They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
Isa 59:6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works [are] works of iniquity, and the act of violence [is] in their hands.
Isa 59:7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts [are] thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction [are] in their paths.
Isa 59:8 The way of peace they know not; and [there is] no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
Isa 59:9 ¶ Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, [but] we walk in darkness.
Isa 59:10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if [we had] no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; [we are] in desolate places as dead [men].

Jhn 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Jhn 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Jhn 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

I believe that only those who have not come to the light as of yet, still await their day of judgment.
A day when God looks deep into someones soul and knows their works. And that knowledge is brought forth into the light where the Holy Spirit convicts that person of their sin and causes them to repent from walking in the dark.
But to those who are in the dark, that day is as a thief in the night and it steals away their hiding places of ignorance and evil works.
But those who walk in the light..that is, in a good conscience, do not fear or need to fear that judgment day, because they have already witnessed its effects in their own lives.
Like Saul, who was living in darkness murdering and slandering and causing havok to the church. He was walking in darkness. And that day that Saul "saw the light" was Saul's judgment day.
From that day Saul began to walk in newness of life, he began to walk in the day, and Saul became Paul and a new man had risen from the dead.

You would think to be convicted of ones sins to be a punishment of sorts, but in the end there are many more rewards.
Hbr 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

At least not all put them off. Since you've presented the idea I have given it thought and held it up to the light of scripture.

Good for you.

Since the Investigative Judgment is part of the Gospel message, it needs complete attention paid to it.

Too many people in the Christian world think that just believing Christ's death, Burial, and Resurrection is all the Gospel mesaage they need.
BIG MISTAKE !!!

They need to digest this Bible verse VERY CAREFULLY......
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

I've been searching through dictionaries, concordances, reference materials - anything and everything to do with scripture reference, to find 'investigative judgment'. I've not found anything as of yet.

In the Bible it is refered to as the Day of Atonement, which means the same thing.

BTW....OT Scriptures.
