I am sorry I do not have time to respond to all your post.
Why are you so sure Ananias and Saphira were lost? God using someone for an example by taking their life does not necessarily mean they were lost. Lost to this world, yes but they are still living somewhere. If lying to the holy Spirit were always punished by death, I would have been dead a long time ago but my hope is that God forgave me for that, and still has a purpose for me in this world. I would not be at all surprised if Ananias and his wife are in heaven right now, praise God! isn't His love wonderful, and His ways past finding out, and we are just getting started!? God Bless |
I learn new things every hour of every day and I am so thankful for it..yes I am..
When you said, God using someone for an example by taking their life does not necessarily mean they were lost..
I began thinking of Adam.
They were punished for trusting in the "riches" of the knowledge of good and evil..in another post I refer this to "materialism..or learning to aquire wealth through the world and not by faith"..
And so when they were "slain" by the spirit..it was their "faith in materialism" that was killed. The faith in worldly things given over or the destruction to Satan, in order to save their "spirit" alive, by recieving faith in God.
I realize that many take the bible literaly, however I lean on the spiritual or metaphorical lesson that's being taught.
And the actual spiritual lesson makes more sense to me than the literal explanation.
My words are spirit..and they are life..this, I take literaly..

Amen Loan, feels good to find some common ground!
I suppose we need the literal and the physical to make the leap to the spiritual but some just seem to never make the leap. Of course we must guard against leaping too far when we make the spiritual jump. Its my understanding that jumping too far spiritually is the reason theologians came up with the idea of literal interpretation in the first place. Now some people think that the way to honor Gods word is to be totally wooden literal. Oh well I've heard it said "if Christians don't fall off the donkey on one side they will the other". |

Have you ever read the book "Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan?
I'm reading it again for the hmm at least 20th time.
It's about a man named Christian who is seeking to be unburdened from his load, and he is told to journey to the Celestial City(kingdom of heaven), where the Master will unload him of his burdens.
There are so many truths in that book. So many different circumstances and personalities we come across while making that journey ourselves.

Lord, can you help my son for he is a "lunatic" often falling into the water and into the fire..
I think this is the forging process..and we all have to go through it..
and our thoughts flow back and forth side to side, until we can find that solid ground smack dab in the middle..lol.
Common ground ..sounds to me like when Paul said..that we should seek to live peacably among all men.
That's a hard thing to do..but with God, nothing is impossible..
If you seek it, you will find it..
Sometimes just staying on the donkey can be the hardest challenge..LOL..
hugs JimD
