bye-bye. Actually, I was in a Chicago loop studio, making a living as an artist/illustrator. This after a stint in the Army Air Corp during the Big One.
I left the Lutherans at about 30, joined an independent group, left them and have been doing independent research since then - antagonizing a lot of fiercely religious, but biblically ignorant folks along the way. |

My dads family was Mormon as were some of my mothers family. My mom and dad never attended church that I recall when I was young. They divorced when I was about 3, my dad left the state when I was 5, we started going to the Kingdom Hall when I was about 6 then stopped. I remember going to the SDA church for a very brief time and was lightly involved with the mormons for another short period. We went back to the JW's and stayed there for most of my childhood.
We 'opted out' of the church when I was about 17. I went back very briefly when I was 18 or 19 but was treated even more shabbily by the JW's than my family had been when we were attending regularly. I quit post-haste after the congregation was admonished not to speak to me because I had chosen to be disfellowshipped. One member asked me how I had been doing and was promptly rebuked. I left and never went back.
I know that I believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost. I'm not sure I believe in religion. I am learning good things from the church I am going to but I'm starting to feel like a runaway bride ~ ready to run. This is the longest I have stuck with one church since my experience with the JW's. I was part of their ranks for over a decade and baptized as a Christian when I was 12. I have been to many different churches from the time I left the JW's to now. My love for and belief in God has not changed but the whole religion thing is starting to scare the hell out of me again.

That's funny though..My gramps was a Bailey..that's Irish huh? But I haven't been Catholic since I was about 8.. I never liked the Kennedy's specially teddy..
I haven't got a stitch of green on..and I don't drink beer,

1965? Oh man, you are OLD! In contrast, I was born in 1966 - which is quite young.
That's the official cutoff date for that kind of stuff. I have a Wikipedia reference somewhere around here....

age is all in the mind..your only as old as you "think" you are..and somedays I would agree with you..I am OLD..LOL

1964 is the 'official' year for the end of the 'baby boomers' although some socio-economists bleed it into 1965...
