I found this at another BB. Thought it was quite interesting:
quote: Here are several sites that those interested in the believes of Jehovah's Witnesses. There is much information on JW's available and it is wise to research before accepting a bible study or attending their Kingdom Hall.
I was a Jw for over 30 years. I am telling you from first hand knowledge that it is a cult. At their meetings, one can not question doctrine, to do so is subject to punishment by excommunication which they call disfellowshipping.
Their Watchtower study is a Q&A in which those approved to answer may do so. If you have been disfellowshipped or under private or public reproof they can remove what they call priveledges such as commenting at their meetings.
This is a very controlling, rule setting cult.
You will dress like a Jw, talk like a JW, be a JW or else.
This attitude of their Elders, District Overseers, Circuit Overseers and the Governing body is that of the religious leaders of Jesus day- they try to strian the gnat while choking on the camel.
please take the time to research their believes and conduct as well as the many false prophecies they have made.
Here are some helpful sites on the net: http://www.jude3.net/JWIDX.htm http://www.angelfire.com/ma2/witness/index.html http://www.evangelicaloutreach.or/jehovah.htm http://www.macgregorministries.org http://www.truthsearcher.co.uk/ http://www.apologeticsforchristians.homestead.com http://www.bible.ca/jw.htm
It is my aim here to show the Jehovah's Witnesses doctrine versus Christian truths.
As the Boreans of the first century, take the time to research and not to just take the word of any man or organization as truth.
Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life that is something that some cults deny. If not openly they do so subtly by placing what they say as the direct link from God.
God has not replaced Jesus as mediator with any man or group of men.
He has not appointed anyone to be his organization on earth. His has a Heavenly organization and Christ is in Control. He leads and His followers are not burdened.
Pray that God lead You through the Holy Spirit to listen to Jesus and follow HIm.
